OT - Happy Cinco de Mayo! | Arthritis Information

Lots of the scheduled Cinco de Mayo activities over the weekend here in Chicagoland were canceled, but there are still plenty of celebrations to be found if you look.  Perhaps I'll have a margarita after tonight's board meeting, instead of the usual Sam Adams. Happy Cinco de Mayo to you too!  Hubby's Rotary is having a social and spouses are always invited to those. Last time I had to decline because of my stupid bowel disease. RA gave me a rough beginning to this day, but a very long sleep and Ultram seems to have helped so I think I will be able to go join in on the festivities. I could care less about booze, there's always virgin margaritas! What are you going to do tonight? CathyMarie2009-05-05 16:54:25I'm about to leave to go to a school board meeting.  Afterwards, several of us usually go out for a drink at the local tavern.  Tonight I'm gonna have a margarita. Right back at you Jas, have fun after SBM.  I had a Modela Negra today and that was the extent of my celebration.....too many people in enclosed spaces to go out and celebrate.  LindyOh Jas... and a few other mom's done coyote ugly after having their margaritas! Sam was not around to keep them in line! Jose enabled them and encouraged it! Jose is a sneaky SOB.

A flavorful margarita sounds wonderful! On the rocks, extra salt...
Great. Now I want chips and queso!!

Hope everyone has a great evening!
Thanks Mel, I had a wonderful evening. Mariachi music, folk dancers, fire jugglers, an amazing storytelling session complete with tableaux that depicted certain elements of the stories then enchilladas, chicken mole, queso-smokin' hot, albondigas, an interesting flat bread that I was unfamiliar with but by the end of the meal could not longer claim that, too many side dishes and condiments to list all topped off by an incredible flan.

Menudo rojo (cooked overnight buried in the coals of the 'cooking' fireplace next to the ramada), fresh corn and flour tortillas accompanied by strawberry, mango, lime, and rose petal fresha for breakfast this morning.

Gustatorial paradise.
Well I finally met up with my buddy Sam Adams tonight.  A good time was had by all.  Sadly there was no good food to be found... we were forced to forage in the church kitchen for food left over from the weekend festivities. Damn Sam... now he and his twin brother are giving me a headache.  I knew I should have told his twin to take a hike. LMAO!

Sam & Stan they are the man!
They're kicking me in the forehead - FROM THE INSIDE!!! I gotta remind myself I am no longer a 20-year old college student... Well girls - Sam tells me it's time to go to bed.  I'm too tired to argue.  But I've already told Sam that I am NOT going to meet him at Open Mic night tomorrow.  He can hang out with the rest of our friends.  I'm staying home.
Awww... poor Sam. At least you told him and did not stand him up. heheheeee!Jas, we went to DH's Rotary club's party - 80 people! Luckily, the hosts have a really huge house on beautiful 2 acres with nice patio and pool area for the party to spill out onto. They had all kinds of tequila actually from Mexico, but I don't like the taste of tequila so I had my usual virgin Margarita. Lots and lots of food on the potluck table. When we first walked in, with our mexican hats and bright color shirts and my funny fruit earrings, I looked at DH and said " I thought you said everybody is dressing up!" because nobody else was! People got a kick out of that and reassured me that there were costumed people there and we did eventually start seeing them. But I was only kidding, it didn't really bother me, it wasn't like I showed up in a skimpy playboy bunny outfit! We stayed about 2 hours which was enough for me. I'm just happy I could make it this time. I had a scare earlier with hours of fierce diarrhea, but meds and long nap eventually resolved it. I tell you, having multiple medical conditions is the pits. Most people were within a 10 year range of our age but I was the only one with a cane, walking like an old lady. Oh well, sitting down, I could talk as well as everybody else. I had fun!
