Too Young For PMR (Again)......... | Arthritis Information

Been a couple of months now since I was diagnosed with PMR. Currently on 20mg Pred daily which to be honest has been a 'life saver' for me and I haven't experienced any side effects (does this mean I won't now or can they take some time to kick in?).

Just thought this might be of interest to any 'youngsters' out there (I am 41). I have been under the care of a neurologist for some 2 1/2 years now for obviously something totally unrelated to PMR. At my last appointment I thought it only right to inform him of my PMR diagnosis in case there was any conflict with any medication he might prescribe and the Pred.

It now transpires he has taken it upon himself to write to my GP and tell him that I can't have PMR as I am far too young!!

I am just confused as to why a neurologist would have such an opinion in a field in which he doesn't specialise?

That's an eye specialist and now him that have both said the same thing regarding my age. I'm getting a bit tired now of the look of surprise
