Op on feet | Arthritis Information

Hello my name is Julie and i am from the uk

I have had R A for 16 years now

I am waiting for an operation on my foot ( wont be long now ) and will be having the other foot done at a later date

I am wondering if anyone on here as had the Stainsby procedure done and if so could you share your experience with me

Hi Julies, welcome. I have an acquaintance who had either this or a similar procedure a few years ago for bilateral severe claw toe deformities. He had both feet done at once and was restricted in weight bearing and activity for (if memory serves) about a month and then work "surgical shoes" for another 3-4 weeks. His only regret is that he did not have it done when it was first offered to him as an option in the late 1990's. Hi only complain was the K-wires at the end of each surgical repaired toe.

However, I hasten to add that he does not have RA.
