I just got back from having a nerve test done on my hands and arms. I was told that I have Carpal Tunnel in right hand along with nerve damage in my elbow area. He mentioned something about being having RA, Thyroid problems having something called entrapment desease has anyone heard of that. He siad my Rhumey would be in touch with me. Anyone have info let me know? Wow see how hard is it to post a real to goodness RA ? or trouble. Please all the garbage going back in forth is uncalled for and it is very depressing. It makes me feel like I am in high school again. I for one just want to come in here read good info, care for others hurting, and have a place to feel safe and supported. Hope we get that back soon. LauraCarpul Tunnel is very common in people with RA. I have it bylaterally. Splints to ware at night are very helpful.Hi Laura...I also was told I had CTS and was to have surgery.  I ended up wearing my wrist brace for a while longer and put the surgery on hold and the numbness/tingly feeling eventually went away.  It comes back occasionally but a day of wearing the wrist brace usually takes care of it for a while.

What symptoms are you having?  Did they suggest surgery yet?
Honestly I never concidered getting surgery. Usually when I start dropping things it is my first sign that a flare is starting. I am not saying it works that way for everyone. I used to use my arms constantly for work and honestly I would expect to have carpul tunnel just based on that. Anyone with RA that has ever had surgery feel free to jump in and tell us if it has helped you? Laura, Milly and Kel, I had carpal surgery done on my left hand and it has helped tremendously.  I  still have a little numbness, but it is gradually going away.  I actually had it done in the doc's office rather than day surgery and I could have driven home, of course I did not.  I would have it done again. GG2009-05-13 17:18:26another CPT sufferer...though not so much anymore since inflammation is reduced... When I have discomfort I wear m supports....Thanks everyone for the info I have not talked to my DR. yet so I don't know what he will suggest. I have had this for a very long time and had nerve test done about 8 yrs ago. I have worn the braces at night and have dealt with it good till now. I guess the Dr. compared the last one and this one and said there was a remarkable change. He ask me if I had thyroid trouble of course I said yes. I looked up info last night and it is common for sufferers of RA and thyroid to have this problem. That seems weird to me. It makes it worse because I am in such a flare that nothing seems to be stopping. I feel like one big blob of pain, like a neon sign going whawha and so fatigued. I feel like all I do is complain. I have to remind myself to just be patient and wait for the Remicade to start working. I just seem to be struggling a bit right now sorry to complain. LauraI really get the "whawhawha" of pain.. sorry you're suffering like that now.....  Sounds like you may be on the verge of getting more help....  I hope that is so.Vent away...being in pain just sucks! I hope the Remicade starts to kick in very soon Laura - I am so sorry you are hurting so much.  As others have said its okay to complain and to find support here.  I sure hope you feel better soon.  I have the CTS in both arms.  I too wear the wrist splints at night.  It helped alot in the beginning and some now.  Lately, my arms kind of go numb from the shoulder down while I sleep.  Just an annoyance.  Would love a good nights sleep.  Some day.  Anyway, I hope you feel better soon.

Oh bless your heart. Fatigue of a flare is as bad as the pain. You just go right ahead and let it all out. You do not have to go threw this alone.UGH!  I hate wearing splints at night!  I usually wake up around 3A ripping them off!  I am sorry you are having pain issues, Laura, I know how you feel.  Don't feel badly about venting, it helps and that is what this forum is for.  I, too, hope it can get back to where it should be soon.

I hope you feel better soon, you hang in there and keep posting.  I am a firm believer in getting things off your chest!
