Does anyone remember the daily chat? A place where we could go and ask how each other were doing and exchange recipies. A place to laugh, a place to cry. A place where people for the most part got along. Where you could have your favorite cyber drink and talk about your youth or just whatever. Even discuss RA. Oh the great times we had.Yes- I remember Milly! You start.  Right now I have so many personal troubles I don't want bring the board down so I'll pass.  I'd like to read about some uplifting things though.

Well seriously I need another person to talk to or it just isn't going to work well.

Hi Milly!

I remember the daily chat, and I also remember a supportive board where there was a lot less bickering and nastiness. Oh, for the good 'ole days!

Gale
Brisen always there when I need you. Grab a Martini and hang out. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end. . .

Milly, I would be thrilled to chat with you!  How you doing girl?

I'm hanging out on my ghost hunting and paranormal sites tonight, but I stopped in and I saw your thread.

Miss you Ginger (oops, I mean Gale)!

Im putting on my bragging hat!!  I have just a moment cause I'm exhausted... but wanted to share what great kids I have.. ( I have 5 plus SOs and ILs)  I got home from work on Monday night to my sons' cars in the driveway.. Hmm.. wonder why they are both over?  I walk through the house to see them both in my back yard working furiously with my son in law, to get my lawn mowed, my pots cleared for planting and pulling the weeds that 9 days of rain had fed growing up between the pavers of my patio (need to resand) .... fixed my little gate in my arbor arch, built a container to hide my trash cans... while my daughter and daughter in law weeded my flower beds and readied them for planting....  I was so over whelmed w/ surprise and happiness.. It was just what needed to be done and they stepped right up and helped me out.... They do things like this all the time.. my girls will put their heads together and plan to come and help me spring clean or holiday clean..   I can't be more grateful that they are so helpful and understanding of my needs..... gotta love 'em.So have you found any ghost? I have never heard of this sight. Sounds like some good old fashion fun.Your kids sound great Babs.
Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end. . .
Your kids sound great Babs.
thansk Milly .. they keep on suprising me these ways.........  Babs, that was wonderful - what a great surprise!  My kids did that for me a couple years ago while I was away at my mom's.  I was thrilled, but I did lose a few flowers, cause they thought they were weeds, LOL!

Milly there are a lot of ghost watching and paranormal sites.  I have see a few!
I will probably check them out just for something new to do.Well it is a bit late. I will check back in tommorrow. I took my night time meds about an hour ago so they are starting to kick in. But it was nice to here from all of you.
Does anyone remember the daily chat? A place where we could go and ask how each other were doing and exchange recipies. I just got back from Bingo.  It's raining like crazy here in Chicagoland!  Lots of small tree branches down in the streets, but no power outages at least in my area.  And our internet connection is still up, for now.  I think the worst part of the storm has finally passed; now the rain is tapering off and it's really windy.  I love thunderstorms!  And my allergies are much better today after the storms washed the pollens out of the air.

I can't believe summer vacation is just a couple weeks away!  The boys definitely have spring fever.  So do our cats.  They are very happy that the windows are once again open most of the time so they can sit and watch all the birds, squirrels and neighborhood cats.

We baked more bread today - we're getting quite good at making French bread.  It's pretty simple to make, once you figure out how long to knead the dough and have enough patience to let it rise properly.  If you don't, you'll have some very nice-looking flour bricks.well, thanks for the heads up on the weather coming my way today, Jas........  rain and wind......  There's something a little bit NOT different ;)Babs, lucky you with your family. Milly, my main focus is gardening! I have extensive flowerbeds all round my house, and this year has been a real challenge for me. I'm the charge ahead do it all right away kind, but this year I have had to change my attitude. I work away a little at a time, and rest often, and stop when I can't do any more. I'm determined not to let RA take this, my absolute favorite activity, away from me.

Next week I have made a golf date. Haven't golfed since the RA got bad, so that will be interesting. I've only been golfing for a couple years, and my friend that I am going with is a sweet heart. I explained to her that it could be a fiasco, and she said no problem! Let's go!

I love spring. Very helpful in maintaining a positive attitude. Plants and birds and frogs are good for the soul. Critters in my little pond and bugs of interest all over, snakes and toads. Life is good. It's raining here right now.  I sure hope it clears up.  My daughter is getting married this Saturday so it would be nice if it didn't rain.  As much as I'm looking forward to the wedding, I'm also looking forward to it being behind us.

I've been finishing up a new project I started a while back.  I was thinking about different things that would be passed down to my children and then on to theirs etc.  I was thinking about the stories of these items being lost.  For example....I have this teapot that was my grandmother's and when you pour the tea it plays "Tea for Two". When I was a little girl I just loved to have tea parties with my grandmother.  So what I thought I'd do was to take a photo of anything that meant something to me that would be in our family for years to come and put them in a book and write what I knew about it and any special memories I had with that particular item.  Anyway, it's been a lot of fun and I feel good knowing that these stories will be known to my grandchildren, great grandchildren etc.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
that sounds like a lovely idea, kelstev....  how clever.

I know exactly what you mean by looking forward to the wedding of your child, and can't wait to be beyond it too......  it's so much work... and so stressful!!  I have one married and one getting married in Feb 2010 and probably another or two getting engaged to wed in the next couple years (you can see the writing on the wall
that sounds like a lovely idea, kelstev....  how clever.

I have to say that I'm enjoying the wedding planning for my youngest daughter.  My oldest daughter got married in a very small ceremony abroad.  It was lovely, but I missed being able to share the joy with all our friends and extended family.

This time around, while it is a lot more work.  We are all having a blast.  It's truly a family collaboration.  It can get a little stressful at times, but...knock on wood...everything has really come together well.  What can I say...We are a detail oriented family or as my friends would say...Crazy type A's Kelly, I send you prayers and good wishes for a wonderful wedding day for your family.  And for a day with NO RAIN!

My daughter had a wedding outside on the shoreline and a storm was brewing as she walked down the aisle.  The wind picked up, and in the photos you see sunshine and bright skies on one side of the photo, and black storms clouds on the other.  But my daughter's MIL and I stood there and symbolically blew the clouds away together and asked for the storm to go around us and would you believe it, it did!  People were telling us it was pouring 1/2 a mile from where we were, but we ended up with a beautiful sunset and not a drop of rain!

Lynn, I agree with you.  The planning that my daughter and I did for her wedding was so much fun.  We did a lot of it on line - we would chat on instant messenger and send each other links to look at the different things we needed for the wedding and reception.  That's why I love the internet - you really can find anything you need, and a lot of things you "didn't know you needed"!

Stay safe and well everyone!

Karen,

I so agree with what you said about the internet.  My youngest lives three hours away from me, so I get to be the "point person" concerning in town wedding issues.  Just the other day, we were sharing pictures on the internet of various wedding hairstyles.....It was a blast

There is definately a wide variety of wedding things on the web.  I'm fascinated with all of it and I love looking at the sites.  And yes, there are some things that I really didn't know I needed  Sounds like a great time. I am sure it will be a lovely wedding.
I am staying with my grandchildren now. When I wasn't it was so much fun to get on IM and chat with them. I love the internet.
Jas your recipe for bricks will come in handy this winter when you try to crack the ice at work.
Jas your recipe for bricks will come in handy this winter when you try to crack the ice at work.
LOL - I forgot all about the ice-cracking!  I'm no longer working, but I do go to the office from time to time to see my buddies.  That damn pond was the highlight of our winter!!!
