ODDS N ENDS RLS | Arthritis Information

I HAVE SUFFERED FROM RLS FOR 40 YEARS AND FINALLY ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO I FOUND A MED THAT WOULD GIVE ME RELIEF.  DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE RLS? What is RLS and what med helped?Isnt that restless leg syndrome? I have wondered about it before. I seem to have episodes of inabilitly to keep my legs still, usually at night. It will happen for a couple of nights and then not return for a few weeks. I don't think it is RLS, but maybe just related to RA.  I would think that true RLS is a daily problem, right?

I have severe RLS.  I was diagnosed about 2 years ago after spending 2 years of getting 2 hours of sleep a night.  It started after my second total knee replacement.  I would jack-knife in bed every 30-40 seconds and just about leave the mattress.   My poor hubby thought he was sleeping on a trampoline.  It also happens whenever I am tired or confined.  Sometimes when I am a passenger in the car I just have to jiggle my legs constantly to stop the jerking.  If I move them voluntarily they don't seem to have to kick.

I tried tegretol but had a reaction  to that.  Valium and clonazapam worked but they can't be taken for long periods.  Sinemet worked for a while but made me nauseous every night when I took it.  I am now on what I call my 'miracle drug'... Cabaser.  It is the best thingI've been on it for just over a year and now I can sleep most nights about 6 hours.  It was a miserable few years.  I was so sleep deprived I couldn't work because I would blank out and not even see things.  Driving was really scary too.

Cabaser is a Parkinson's drug (dopamine). It really is the best drug I'm on at the moment.  I had to miss about a week of it a few weeks ago because my script ran out and I couldn't get another one.  After about 4 days not on it the jerks were back with a vengeance, it was horrible, I ended up lying on the couch for a few nights so I wouldn't disturb my hubby.  It took another 3-4 nights to get the effect back when I got my new script, now I'm back to normal.   It truly is magical.
