Looks like I may be starting Rituxan | Arthritis Information

I saw a doc at the Cleveland Clinic yesterday and she was wonderful.  We talked for about an hour and a half and she thinks that Rituxan might be the next drug that I try for my RA.  She also suggested Orencia but would be more in favor of Rituxan because it is more effective and is given less frequently so it would be convenient for me as it's a 250 mile drive for me.  I'm still a little scared to try Rituxan because of the whole PML thing but every day of stiffness and pain is warming me up to the drug pretty quickly.

I'd love to hear some encouraging words from folks that are on Rituxan if you feel like sharing with me.

Thanks
Bob
Oh that sounds wonderful!! I am praying for you Bob. You just tell us how you feel. We can help you threw the scary stuff. You so deserve some relief. I will be routing for you to have a good outcome with this. I have never taken it myself. But I will try a biologic when the doctors are ready.I go back in june for another round of the med. Can't really pass judgement yet-the jaw complications have thrown the RA into flare mode. But-I didn't get any side effects. RD is hoping this second round will give us a better idea of how the med works for me.Bob,

I've been on Rituxan for awhile now.  Feel free to pm me with any questions you have.  I'd be happy to help in any way I can

Rituxan has worked very well for me.  I'm in remission and haven't had any significant side effects from the Rituxan.
So glad to hear you had a good appointment!!!!!!!!!!! It's about time you found someone who really listens and has a plan for you! I cleared my PM box so please tell me all about it! Bob,

I am a rituxin junkie. How nice it was to just cold turkey mtx and to go from 15-20 mgs of prednisone to 5mgs in about 2 months. I actually started a walking program. First everyday every morning and then everyday every orning and every evening. Who of thought that was even a possibility. I still get a jealous twinge when others pass me by jogging, but who knows, I may be able to in the future. I am now waiting for my next round of infusions, it's past time and I am now reminded how painful and crippling this disease is. Best of luck with this wonderful drug.

I wish you the best with whatever you chose to treat!!
Bob,
So glad you found a doc that you like! That's a long way to go, but it sounds like it's worth it to find a RD who will take the time and will listen. Good luck with rituxin.

Bob,
did you see my doctor? Dr. michelle Rosian? At the Cleveland Clinic? Isn't she wonderful?
She spends a good deal of time talking to you. I really like her. Her nurse is indian I think..she is so sweet and soft spoken. I really hope this is who you went to see. She is really a smart and kind doctor. I will be looking forward to your response...

Yay for Bob!!  I haven't had time to post a lot but I am SO happy to see this, after all you have been through!  Yay!Bob, I am happy you made that appointment and had such a positive visit.  I hope things work out for you and the positives just keep coming.  Being worried about a new protocol means you have put energy and thought into it, and it is a natural reaction.  Look to the good days, they are a comin'!
