big old shot in my big old foot | Arthritis Information

Another round of doctor visits today.  Most significant for me was a visit to the podiatrist.  Interestingly, new x-rays showed NO erosions though I do have large synovial pockets at several joints in the ball of my foot.

This is where big shot comes in, so the squeamish  You have a better podiatrist than the one I went to. I guess I need to find a new one. I was taking prednisone at the time and he said that was a very big gun. LOL I never look at needle. That is my number one rule. Did you get an MRI or just an exray? Let me know if it helps. Also who does ankles? The podiatrist or an ortho? I would have probably waited for another time to get the secound shot done.

I absolutly went to the foot guy to get a shot. Guess he was squimish. I was just heart broken when he did not give me one. That was in January. My RD gave me the shot in my shoulder last time. I am going to ask him if he does feet also. I hope it does the trick for you! Do you get muscle spasms in your feet? I have swelling in my feet under the secound toe. My right big toe has narrowing of the joint space. The spasms draw my big toe down ward towards the floor. If I lay down and try to relax my toe just points downward as if that is it's natural position.
Milly, my podiatrist does my ankles, though I guess a good ortho guy could.  I see an ortho for my hands next week.  I just had x-rays on both feet.  I should have qualified, the toes did not come out well, he said he would retake the x-rays on them in 3 weeks when I return for evaluation.

Yes, I do get muscle spasms in my feet - cramps that curl all my toes and I have to reach down and pull them back!  Just to add. My Ortho will inject any joint I need. For a long time he made me appointments every 5 weeks and I went in for "tune" up injections. I picked the worse joints and he injected. I asked him about to much cortisone and he said at that time he was not concerened. He helped me through until the Dmardds started working. Love my ortho. He also isnt hard on the eyes. Cheers(?), Shug

Hey Waddie, you're braver than I am.  Foot injections absolutely frazzle me.  I had a really bad experience many, many years ago and the most recent experience was not bad.  Had an ankle block and then the toe worked on.  75% of the battle is finding a good podiatrist.  I sure hope the injections work for you.  Lindy
