tests-what do they mean? | Arthritis Information

In Canada drs. hardly show any results.  they tell u whether u are OK or not.  Perks of Ontario  Health Insuranc plan I guess.  I have to go for blood tests evey 2 months.  Where i go for blood test they gave me the copy of the schedule.  It says:

ALKPHOS, ALT, BILI, CBC. CK, CTEAT, ESR, SPEC. VIS, AND VENEPUNC.

Any body knows what they are for?  Once the results come then which are the important numbers I should ask my reumy.  some of you talk about sed rate.  I know about RF factor.  Is there any other test I should ask my doctor to do which is important and shed some light on what is going on?

thanxx
Hi
the first 3 are liver function tests
cbc is a complete bood count-checking red/white cell counts and rations
cteat is creatinine-kidney function test
esr is the sed rate

I'm not sure what the last two are
SPEC. VIS, AND VENEPUNC.
Are collection and preparation of the specimens for the ordered testing.

Spec vis=specimen preparation and venepunc is venipunture, however, in a Canadian lab they may mean something else altogether.

Ask the folks working in the lab, they will be able to clarify in an instance.
