It has been a challenging day. | Arthritis Information

I woke up with chostocronditis. My right shoulder is shot. It hasn't been a month since my last cortisone injection. I have spent most of the day in bed because my other parts don't feel very well either. It is just almost depressing.

My baby girl has a bad cough and a runny nose. She spent most of the day in my bedroom with me. There are two computers in my room. She chilled out on a game all afternoon. I hope she just has allergies. How do you tell an eight year old not to give you a hug because you don't want to caught what she has. I guess I will be coughing soon. LOL

Yesterday started out so good. By night time my DIL said what happened? I wasn't walking gracefully. I couldn't even manage a good hobble without looking pethetic. Sure she has seen me this way before. It is just I had been doing so well. Well at least I got my nails done yesterday. A pretty pearl and hot pink mix. So when I look at my throbbing fingers it cheers me up a bit. Docs going to check up on me Thurday to see if we need to up the meds. I have an appointment for the first with RD and the secound with the pain guy. In all actuality I am suprised it took so long for my chest and rib area to get in the mix. Everything around it was already swelled. My collar bone disappeared about a week and a half ago. I love the good days. It is nice to have them. It is just such a blow when the chair gets kicked out from under you.
Awwwwww Milly- sorry you feel like such crap! Hope you don't catch baby girl's cold! Keep washing your hands!

Hope you feel better tomorrow- let us know.
Milly girl,  I am sorry!  I know how you feel as my chest pain has long been a problem!  I hope you find some relief with your doctor visits and are up on that chair soon.  Nice days are such a treasure!  Keep taking your joy where you can find it, Milly, and I hope to hear you feel better soon. Millie, we understand completely.  I'm sorry you're flaring after feeling so well.  A nice polish on your nails does make you feel better.  Lindyaww. Milly.
Hope you feel better again soon......

Yes! I got my nails done on Monday, it is mood lifting!!!
Sorry Milly for your flare. I stopped getting my nails done because my fingers hurt to bad. I may get them done now that the pain an swelling are gone, after this sinus infection of course...Hope the little one recovers quickly...
Lisa LisaOnline2009-05-20 04:48:38Hi, sorry about the pain and that you might be getting sick soon...kids are so cute though, how can you not hug them...even when theyre sick. lol.

I also have Costochondritis. My doctor diagnosed me with it a little over a month or so. But mine went away. I started getting pain the other day again when ever i would sneeze. I didnt know it was something reoccurring. And I didnt know you could get injections for it. Mine isnt too bad, so I think I would rather go without the injections.

But my question is this:
Does it get worse as it progresses?

I did not get the shot for chostochronditis, I got the shot in my right shoulder. If I do not get shots or take prednisone I can not do daily things very well like dishes or pooring a pot of coffee. Taking a heavy pan out of the oven or buying an eighteen pack of soda. So yesterday it hurt badly to close the bathroom door. Now I know to do that with my left arm. Some things require two arms. I guess I am bumbed out because I sort of need prednisone and I quit taking it in January.I hope you feel better soon Milly.Life is sooo!! not so fair.  I am in the middle of flair.  Everything hurts. knee, foot ( i am not able to hobble till I put naproxyn 1000 mg in my body) hand, wrist etc.  I am waiting to get mtx kick in.  so far nothing.  I can very well understand what u are going through.  hang in there and this will pass too.It just really depends. If you are being treated properly with medication it may not be as bad. Once I had it and all I was taking was tramodol and Flexeril. Well that was not doing the trick at the time I was RF negative then and could not get the point across that I was in desperate pain. I had a very physical job at the time. I believe if I remember correctly, lifting and lying down both make it worse. I got home from work and went to bed. Took my meds first. I was moaning so badly that my son made me get out of bed and go to the EROOM. He wanted to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack. If you are treating for RA it is usually not so bad. Well I am taking Lyrica, Vicoden, Flexeril, Cyclosporine and an NSAID. So it is some what more barable. I really do not get chostochronditis all of the time. This is like the third time in the last eight years that I have had it this bad. I may get milder chest and rib issues on occassion. I am really in a total body flare of some sort. RA and fibro both I would say. Had my DIL zip up my dress. She said this wasn't that hard last week. She hollard for my son. She held the zipper together while my son zipped. Just  the part that went over the ribs and chest.  I said yes my chest swelled up yesterday. She said yes it sure did. Non the less everyone from my granddaughter to the neighbor girl told me I looked nice today. It is raining cats and dogs. I had to go out to renew drivers license. If I had worn slacks they would have gotten soaked the parking lots are all flooded. I get what my RD just refers to as inflammation in my breast bones off and on. I have it right now. I use the ice packs that come with my Humira to ease it. That seems to be about the only thing that helps mine. You might try something cold if you haven't already.
