I am new to this posting, I posted the other day, and only had one response.  I'm just wondering if anyone has tried weight watchers to get rid of the weight from the prednisone.  You can read my first posting and it will tell you what I've been up against.   God bless all of you. Sorry I don't think I saw your post yesterday. I will try to find it. Welcome to the forum. I am sure others will see your post today and answer. Some day you will be off of the prednisone and maybe able to loose the weight. I was on it for a year and a half. I was loosing weight after I stopped. Then I had to start Lyrica. It makes you retain water.Hello Tiggerpunt, all I can say is "Give it a Go at Weight Watches". If for no other reason than getting out and about and having moral support and knowing you are eating healthy.

I should take my own advice ... duh... PMR and Pred in my 4th Year also with huge weight gain...I watch what I eat ect and have had to go up and down on Pred, with each up , putting on more weight!
When I was down to 5mg my face was not so noticable but no real weight loss. Had a flare so back up to 10mg and increase weight and fat round face again! and hairy face again as well. Have you had this? I am back down to 5 / 4 alternate days now and no loss but no gain either!
I can appreciate your frustration ect I was having a pity party last week. This PMR is #!
Keep on posting and if you do decide to Give it a Go, good luck.

me again Bev, re the sweating.... I sweat every day. Putting on make up and drying my hair is just about a waste of time. It can happen anytime and has been really embarrassing. Its winter in Australia and I am noticing that the sweating is not as profuse.
I'm not sure if the sweating is from the PMR and /or Pred. ? I was sweating before diagnosis and  before taking Pred.

If you are both post menopausal  - Premarin helps a lot  - I take 0.625 mg per day.

Stops night sweats in their tracks and assists during the day.

If you don't want prescription medicine

Sage  extract  - as directed on bottle from health shop

and Evening Primrose oil or tablets again as directed.

Both take a couple of weeks of so to 'kick in' and both highly recommended

Nothing like a bit of alternative and at least is natural.
