HI

i have a painful hip, had it xrayed but no problems showed on xray, has anyone else had a painful hip with no reason why, which has maybe showed up later, its even sore when just sitting.

I know hip problems ALL TOO WELL..  My ra hurts my hips more than anything else and causes me to limp.  Only slight damage showed on xrays but I know it has to be more extensive.  I cannot be on my feet more than a couple hours and I am limping.  You have my sympathy.  I use a recliner as you can take pressure off of your hips.  Also an electric blanket works well for me and when all else fails - good pain meds !!!  My rd always underplays my hip problems and focuses on my hands and knees.  I don't think hip problems are in the rheumatology text books because he sure likes to avoid discussing it.  I hope you have better luck with your rd and less pain.  Rox

Terikell,

I have severe hip pain too!  I have every joint pain there is.  Sometimes its so bad I cant even hold a glass up or open the door.

I have hip pain which also hurts when I sit. Sometimes I have to lay on the floor to stretch it out to get it from hurting. I have had a CT and an ultra sound, they found nothing. My pain seemed to come from my ovary area, but since they found nothing, I have just given up and called it hip-ritis.

Hi to all,

I was reading the post on here and I saw "HIP PROBLEMS"  Believe me, I am the queen of hip problems. I can not remember a day in my life since I have been a teenager through today that I have not had some form of hip pain, especially when I was pregnant...have to stand up for more that 2 or 3 hours, walk more than 1/2 mile or lay down and sit down to long.  My heart goes out to anyone who has had to go through years of hip pain.

Right now I am on Enbrel...I can not say that it is the end all of all the drugs I have taken but to my surprise, the one thing that Enbrel has helped is my hip pain and knee pain. (OA)  The RA is still as bad as it was before the Enbrel.  So in order to carry on my day to day living I have had to go back on Tramadol, Hydrocodone and Celebrex.  I hate having to use so many drugs but I know I wouldn't be able to do the things I can do, if I didn't.

The medications that we have to take is like coming to a "fork in the road."  We pray that we have chosen the right path.

Hope every one is having a blessed day and looking forward to a great weekend.

waddles38743.4793171296Yes I have hip pain too. It keeps me from exercising at times. I haven't always had it, just since I've been diagnosed with RA. I try to exercise on the treadmill but have to stop due to my hips hurting. It's a vicious circle! Do your hip problems give you a limp?  When I am limping, it causes more problems - lower back pain and knee pain.

Arthritis can affect your lower back as well and in my case I believe that's been the source of some of my hip pain....but not all.

A shot of cortisone in the hip has saved me on many occations.

I was told I have met my "quota" of cortisone shots for this year.

Shame though...their good stuff!!

Just wanted to chime in here that I have a lot of hip pain as well and it is noooo fun.  Laying, sitting, standing, they all hurt.  And it makes me walk oddly so I end up with lower back pain as well.  Hip pain free day wishes to you all. hmmm... have you ever injured? maybe it is some tendons or musics??? i was in a car accident and it hurt my lower back and if, i spend to much time on my feet or bending over or just turn wrong it hurts i use my heating pad, hot baths, some times stretching out on the floor and music relaxers. i hope you can get to the bottom of this soon. its no fun!
