Changing over to Humira from Enbrel | Arthritis Information

Hi,

Has anyone been on Enbrel and found that it didn't work that well for you but then tried Humira?  How did the Humira work for you?

I have been on Enbrel for the last 3 months, can not take the MTX with it and I am having more pain with it than when I didn't take it.  But it is doing wonders for my OA ( knee and hips and even my ankle that has both OA and RA.   Now I need help with the other RA joints...seems Enbrel isn't quite the answer for me.

Hi Toni

I have only been on humira. It's worked very well for me. After the first injection the stiffness was almost gone in my fingers the next day. If humira didn't work or stopped working, I'd try another one...I'm glad we are getting more choices available to us now. Good luck!

Hi Murphette,

Thank You for answering my post.

I am with you, I am glad for the choices we have too.

There is a good possibility that I may have to switch over to Humira or maybe take the Enbrel twice a week instead of once.  It seems to me that the people who are on Humira are having fewer problems than those that are on Enbrel.  I sure am hoping I don't have to go on Remicade.  That biologic scares me.  Although just about everyone who is using it swears by it.

Is your RA mostly in your hands?  Mine seems to be evenly distributed all through the body.  I have the EOA type...Equal Opportunity Arthritis...LOL.

Hope that all continues to go well for you.

Hi toni

My ra is the worst in the hands/wrists...it has been really bad in the ankles, knee, and shoulder. Before I was on humira my fingers were stiff all the time, even after I was up for awhile. Then when I started humira the stiffness went away fast. That was a big relief!

I've noticed on humira I have more energy, hardly any stiffness (one pinky still gives me trouble tho), and i can bend down pick stuff up easier. I don't seem to have any side effects other than after I get the shot i am hyper

I take the injections every two weeks. At first I felt like it was wearing off a few days before the two weeks was up, but the last two times it lasted longer. I am currently off of humira because I've had a cold. Tuesday will be a month since my last shot and I miss it.

I hope all goes well with you and you can get the best for your body.

I was on Enbrel first. It worked very well for me for about  7 injections, then  quit working. I went to Humira next, which never worked quite as well  but it did work... then the Humira stopped working within 4 months.

I am on Remicade now. it seems to be working, but i have to take it every 4 weeks.

Kathy,  Good to hear you Remicade is working
