Went to Dr. today | Arthritis Information

I started Remicade and have had 2 treatments and ever since I have been having trouble with stuffy ears and sometimes nose but not running fever or feeling bad except for a headache and left side of my face being tender and numb. Anyways so I went to primary care Dr. to get checked out and she said i had fluid behind my eardrum and also inflamation of my sinuses so she gave me septra I toll her about my flare I was in and my pain level being so high and she prescribed me cymbalta said it would help with pain and the anxiety I am feeling.She seems to think i am suffering from depression I told her it was mainly the pain level getting to me. Well guess with this sinus problem no MTX tomorrow and also ? about Remicade on June 4th? I guess I need to call and check it out? Laura

Laura, First off, call your RD about being on antibiotics and getting your infusion. Waddie's advice about the Neti Pot was right on. I use one and it keeps things in check.

Don't worry too much about having to take a medication. I also was told recently that I was depressed.....ME, never, but then my DH agreed. I knew it was situational due to the dental problems and having to stop all my meds so I requested a tranq. instead of a more longterm med and have used it short term through the dental issues. I think if you have active RA then there will be times that you need a med. to help you cope. Hopefully, it will make it easier for you. Lindy

Sinus infections are the worst!!

I've not had to stop MTX for a sinus infection but have been told to hold off on the biologics...

Thanks everyone it is just confussing because I am not sick other than being stuffy. I don't believe it was a full blown infection but gave me Septra just to keep it from being that. She also gave me Cymbalta to try out for 4 weeks. Anyone else take that? I am having a hard time talking myself into taking it. I don't know why. I am wondering whats the best scheldue for it take 1st thing morning or in theevening at bedtime any sujjestions on that. I have called my DR. and I can't take MTX today and I will touch base with them the day before treatment and they will decide then., but it looks like I will have to hold off. Hope you all have a wonderful day. We are getting more rain where I am at , Our schools had to shut down Monday from flooding and our kids have to go to school Sat. to make up day. My little town has been all over the news. Not in a good way though cause poor people have lost their homes and cars. LauraHi laura

don't forget that you are on relafen which as an anti inflammatory helps keep some symptoms at bay. I'm glad you got to your pcp quickly. Have you called your rheumatologist to check whether you should take the MTX or not.
