Cough hack hack..bloood again | Arthritis Information

Woke up at 3 am Memorial day, gasping for breath like a fish, coughing blood and vomiting everything I ate back to age 12..
Chills, fever, sweats, wracking pain everywhere.

Slept most of Monday..

Hacked and coughed Tuesday. called the dr yesterday figuring she'd call in an antibiotic and she had me come in..

Had xrays taken, but her reaction.. "I really dont know whats going on, and I think we will get you in for a ct scan if nothing shows up in Xrays.".

The coughing is strange.. I won't cough for hours, then suddenly just a few hard coughs and up comes this nasty brown and red crud the texture of superglue mixed with silicone caulk..

I'm absolutely whipped, fever that comes and goes, cold sweats.. I'm getting a little tired of this.

I had pneumonia on April 20, that took about 3 weeks to feel close to normal and then this hits.

Kathy, Do you have the results of the xrays? Your doctor should have been able to get the results that day. Are you set up for the scan? If you haven't heard from her, call today. This has gone on for too long. If I remember right you were coughing up bloody tinged mucous several weeks ago. Call your doctor and get the scan and please keep us posted. LindyKathy,

I would go to urgent care. Just seems too scarey to me. I waited once when I was sick and only went to urgent care after I was coughing up black worms (looked like) and couldn't stop coughing, had lost my voice (for 3 months, did that much damage to my vocal cords) and by the time I decided to go to urgent care, I had lost 30% of my left lung. It died.

OMgosh!! I agree that it sure sounds like something that should be seen now. A phone consult just doesn't seem to cut it. Please do go to urgent care. And check back when you can.Kathy, this is probably still the same illness. I agree that if you are still this ill, either your doctor should see you again or you should go to urgent care or ER tonight. Maybe they can get your results and help you. I'd hate to hear that a delay in treatment ends up with you in the hospital. You are in my prayers,

Same thing happened to my stepmom. We had been trying to get her to go to the ER for a day or so; she adamantly refused, until she passed out in the living room and dad had to call 911. She was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and the doctors were amazed she had survived long enough to even make it to the hospital.
Kathy, give us an update soon! I hope all is well. This has me very worried. I hope Kathy is okay. YIKES! I'm late in reading this- Kathy are you OK? This does not sound good at all. I did see the dr on Wednesday and she had xrays taken. the results showed no pneumonia. and by the day (friday) I found that out I had been on Levoquin for 3 days.. so other than reallllly tired I'm ok.. have no energy, she said as she potted still more plants and baked another batch of brownies and a batch of cookies for the school..

I havent coughed any blood since Thursday. and actually no coughing at all.

I am seeing her again on Wed and we will figure out what to do.. I am seriously convinced it has to do with the "fixable" situation in my heart right now..

My appt with the cardiodoc is June 23, and my next RD is june 30 so I can get all 3 drs coordinated.

I am really sorry I worried you all.

I just got busy with the kids and the plants etc.. gosh 3 year olds are active.
