Some time ago i had posted that i had been diagnosed with "Interstitial lung disease" i've been told this is a very common complication with patients with RA. Has anyone on this forum been diagnosed with it or know anyone who has?

                                      thanks, DON
I haven't Don, but how are you?Babs,

Im scheduled to see a Pulmonologist the end of this month. I guess we'll know where we go from there.

Donn,
Are you a smoker?  Ever been a smoker?  I know a lot of our meds can cause lung problems.  Good luck.

Phats,

I haven't smoked in 45 years. I have a couple of nodules in my lungs that the RD claims are caused by the RA. Hopefully i'll find out what caused the scaring in my lungs when i see the Pulmonologist. I know the MTX can cause lung problems. Time will tell.

If I remember correctly, I think Lin B was diagnosed w/that.  If so, she'll probably reply.

RA and also mtx can cause lung problems, I'm being followed by a lung doc (can't spell pulm . . . ologist)   I hope that this problem isn't impacting your life too much Don.  I'm glad you are going to the specialist, and I hope it is something that is easily treated and controlled.

Keep us updated!
Hi Donn, I was diagnosed with ILD a couple of years prior to RA diagnosis.  I had pneumonia multiple times and went to pulmonologist, more tests and diagnosis of ILD.  I have fibrosis of R. lower lung which hasn't changed in years and hasn't caused me any problems.  In 1967 I was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoidosis and achieved remission after 6 months of high dose steroids.  I haven't had pneumoia and few URIs since diagnosis.  That could change quickly, but I'm hopeful that it stays stable.  You may find that it's ILD with little change.  My doctor reluctantly prescribed MXT and I agreed that if I started to have any pulmonary issues that MXT would be pulled.  Keep us posted.  I'm really curious about what they find.  Take care.  I'm still going strong, so will you.  LindyBest of luck to you at your appointment Donn. Let us know how you make out.

Hi Donn,

I also have RA-ILD, Dx'd shortly after my Dx of inflammatory RA in '06.

I have areas of fibrosis in both lower lobes.  I go to the pulmonologist quarterly for PF testing and so far, have remained stable with no progression.  Google RA-ILD and you'll find much info on this topic.

I'm sorry to hear about this dx Don. I don't know much about it but my father has COPD and I know that anything with the lungs is certainly worrisome. Please take care. Wishing you well.

thanks for updating, Don... Sorry you have this added RA issue...... but it sounds like you will do best  to keep a positive attitude.... and that it may not progress... Hang in there..  and keep us posted...

Hey Don, I am glad to hear from you but sorry it is on this topic.  I have lung issues too and it is scary.  I have not been diagnosed as having ILD, but do have nodules, pleural effusions and pain.  Hang in there and let us know what is going on.  Best wishes to you!
