Does anyone know if there is a correlation between coughing and RA?

I developed a dry cough about 3 days ago.  My RA is strange in that I usually don't have stiffness in the morning.  About 5 pm is when my body starts to stiffen up and I feel my joints starting to get inflamed.  Well, it's weird, but that's how my cough has been these past 3 days.  I feel wonderful in the morning, but by around 5 pm I am coughing continuously and it's impossible to stop.  I cough until midnight.  I usually take my prednisone at 8 pm, and by midnight the prednisone usually kicks in.  Do you think the prednisone is helping the RA?

So, I guess my question is, do you think my coughing is RA related?  Thanks for any insight.
I think coughing is a side effect of MTX.

What about allergies?  Food allergies?  I'm not sure it is RA related, but may be.  Good luck finding the answer!

I agree with hessalina.  when I started mtx I developed dry cough.  I got chest x-ray done. They are normal.hmm.. MTX? Really?
I've not had a dry cough as you describe since starting MTX.... I started taking MTX when I still smoked.. I've not smoked for almost 9 months

ETA: I've been taking MTX since October 2007

Am I missing something?  Where does the OP say she is on MTX?

It's starting to hurt when I cough.  Specifically, it's a sharp pain right under my right breast (I don't know what the medical term for that part of the body is, but it's where my underwire portion of my bra would rest).

Do you guys think it's a regular cold/cough or is it RA related?
In a very recent pulmonary evaluation I was told that a persistent, dry cough can be caused by inflammation of the lung. IF, big if, your RA is not adequately treated the cough can be a RA (or a Sjogren's) symptom.

I think you need to contact your PCP for evaluation and maybe, just maybe have a pulmonary evaluation.

coughing can be caused by allergies, acid reflux, lung inflammtion even heart problems.  You should call and make an appt with your dr
