I tested normal fro the Anti CPP.  Has anyone else?  Now I am beginning to wonder what is going on with me.  Maybe I do not have RA and it is something else.  I did test positive for teh rheumatoid factor twice and my ESR rates have been all over the map but mainly VERY high.

Alk phosphatase test is the only other thing that was abnormal.  Did do a CT scan on my liver and it was clear.......
I am extremely tired (my biggest complaint) and I literally hurt all over and not always at the worst in the morning.  I do not swell for the most part.

I don't go back to see the specialist till the end of July.  Prednisone did bring my esr rates down.

Thanks.
Sorry that should be Anti CCP...........and sorry for all the spelling mistakes......Crazy4dogs, i'm in a similar situation that I tested positive for mildly positive RF (33) and negative for CCP. Where I'm different is that all my other blood work such as ESR and CRP have always been normal. I just have mild joint pain and have not yet decided to start
treatment. I've been dealing with trying to start treatment for about 3 months now so I know it is tough.

Best of luck in your journey and keep us posted.

sorry.. I would say that testing negative has no impact on having it or not... testing positive says you do.. testing negative says you will need to find another way to diagnose.. But your RF factor is elevated.....  That would indicate you have RA.....

ESR is an inflammation marker ( I think = correct me anyone if I'm wrong === I don't pay much attention to these test since I am Sero-Neg)

The rheumatoid factor can be elevated in other rheumatic diseases as well..sjogrens syndrome (primary), lupus, mixed connective tissue disease, and Polymyositis among them.  The rheumatoid factor is an indicator test only and should be used ony as one piece of the puzzle for diagnosis purposes.  My RD told me that even a percentage of the population with no disease at all will test positive for RF.Linncn, I've heard that as well....my RD said about 1 out of 50 healthy people will have a positive RF factor (most of them over age 60). I'm 34 and so I keep hoping I'm one of these people but only time will tell. My RF 219, ESR & CRP high end of normal, anti ccp negative, pain and finger swelling noticeable, 2 index fingers twisting slowly but surely, big toe joint  terribly painful and swollen (thank god for FitFlops!).  I would like it to be something else, Rheumy says different. I question him every time I go, 'are you sure I've got it', he says lots of the pieces of the puzzle fit... I find it very frustrating that there isnt a definitive test, I wish there was a definitive test just to ease my mind from my constant what if's.I'm sero negative for RF and anti CCP but my ESR and CRP are elevated. So basically it is just how your present?  How do they ever determine for sure or is it always a guessing game?  This can NOT be nothing.  The pain I feel somedays and that horrible tiredness are overwhelming........the tiredness has been so bad making me feel so foggy sometimes that I have forgot my own phone number (not kidding!!).  I have had a CT scan.  That was about about 2 years ago and at that point I was not having the joint pain.......just had the tiredness, and brain fog........my dr feared I had a brain tumour.

ESR is for the sediment rate and mine is always elevated (the three blood tests run) and bascially this measures the inflammation in your body but does not in any way determine what is wrong........

WanttobeRA free---have they 100% decalred you to have RA?  My CRp is negative but as mentioned before my RF was positive and ESR's always high. MY ANA also came back negative or normal.
