I have a question? | Arthritis Information

I hate to bother everyone, but I have a short question.  How many of you are presently taking Orencia or have tried it in the past?

I would sincerely appreciate your responses!  In order for my insurance to approve it, I had to have already tried several other medications (Methotrexate, Kineret, Humira, Remicade, and Enbrel), first, so I'm guessing that there aren't many of us.

Thank you for your time!
Renee
I tried it for 5 months unfortunatly I didn't have much of a response.  I'm doing better on rituxan.  I didn't have any problems or side effects from the orenciaI tried it for about a year...not much success either. BUT, there were people there who said it gave them their life back.currently on it along with MTX..   started with MTX, then that with Humira, then that with Enbrel and now Orencia.  My insurance didn't matter if it was Remicade or Orencia, they qualified as the same.  Good luckRenee,
I had good results with Orencia I took it for 2 yrs in combo with MTX when the Dr. took me off MTX then the Orencia started failing for me. I went into a flare and its been going for several months. I have now started Remicade and have had 3 treatments hoping for good results. Orencia was easy to get only takes 30 minutes and had no side effects except maybe on the 1st day having a headache. Hope that helps you with your question. Laura
Renee, I was just going to tell you that I started on just MTX and went right onto the Orencia. My insurance approved it 1st go around. LauraI start tomorrow so now experience to share.  My insurance approved it without any problems.  This is my third biologic after Humira and Enbrel.

Thanks for responding, Alan.  I hope you do well, tomorrow!  I get my second infusion, on Thursday, and I'm hoping I do better than I did with the first one.  The first one gave me a terrible headache and a little nausea.  I've heard that the headache usually goes away after a couple of infusions.  Keeping my fingers crossed!  Hopefully, you'll do better than I did!

Good luck!
Renee

Thanks, Laura, for your response.  I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you and that you had such a terrible time!  I hope Remicade works better, for you!  I did better, on Remicade, than I did with any other RA medication and it kills me that I can't take it anymore.  Hopefully, it will work well for you too!
