Prednisone Oral : Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Pictures, Warnings & Dosing - WebMD
Hi Everyone,
This forum is a good find I think. I've been coping with PMR for a year now and my biggest problem at this point is the side effects of the pred. I'm down to 5mg for about 6 weeks now but even at this low dose it plays havoc with the optic nerve pressures. Wow! I'd give a lot to have a pair of glasses that I can see with.

Re the PMR, I don't have the terrible joint pain anymore, just the extreme muscle stiffness which I call EORM (Early Onset Rigor Mortis  I'm new on this site although I've been watching it for a long time. Not new to PMR, had it eight/nine years plus, on Pred for seven years (two years plus undiagnosed).  Various ups and downs over the years, very unwell at times and now have steroid induced diabetes, high blood pressure and depression to name but a few.  Having a good spell just now, following a really bad one in the winter months. However, couldn't resist a comment on the EORM - I loved that, now I know what to call it!
Mrs UK, if you see this, don't worry, already in contact.
I have looked at the list of side effects of Pred previously and I believe that some of those considered rare are in fact a lot more common than they would have us think.  I know no one gets them all but a good many of us can tick a fair number off on the list.
I've been reading this site for so long that I feel I already know you all.  Good luck, good health and make the best of today Serenity

I had to laugh, I have one of the rarer side effects and have not been able to walk more than two car lengths for about two years now.   So got a Blue Badge and Att All.   However when I once managed to get down to 7.5mg  - after a week, I could walk further. Yippee, I thought - keep going down and Rheumy will be right  - I will be able to walk again and give Badge and Att All up.  Freedom beckoned, although I knew I was most likely to end up taking 1 mg per day.

Would you chuckle  - old GCA decided otherwise  - two 'flare-ups' later  (one when I had to go back up to 60mg  - t'other  just 40mg) now down to 8.5mg  - and hoping.

One good thing  - I don't have PMR to cope with  - so their is an upside to a downside.

TTFN and may your Gods Go With You.

Just clicked on the link for the side effects of oral prednisone.  There are about 50 severe side effects! May I ask the percentage of people is that experience these??
