tramadol and other pain relievers | Arthritis Information

Today my shoulders feel like they have toothaches in them. I took a tramadol after breakfast and it eased up. It started up again while I was grocery shopping and I took another about 7 PM. It didn't do a thing.
Does anyone know if I can take another pain reliever? It's been almost 3 hrs.
My Rx for tramadol 50 mg tablets - says take 1 tablet 3 to 4 times a day as needed for pain.  I personally have never taken more than 3 in one day - and never closer than 6 hrs between doses.
I hope you get some relief soon.

Tramadol can be taken with acetaminophen (tylenol) and/or NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, etc).  Check with your doc first though. My prescrip says Tramadol HCL 50 MG 1 tablet 2 to 3 times a day as needed for pain so I figured 1 every 8 hrs. max.

I go to my RD tonight so I'll ask.
Shouders are still toothachin' today. I have muscle pain in the side of my neck that runs down through my shoulder blade and back.  I wonder if this is just from having the fan blowing on me. Although I know the extra pain in my wrists and hands can't be from that.
I too have questions regarding tramadol. I'm on Ultram ER (extended release) so I can only take it once a day, in fact I'm required to take it every day. I can, however, take Tylenol... whoopie... doesn't do a thing.  I don't want a seizure so need RD to figure out what I can do on really bad days.... like all yesterday.  If 300mg is ok, why can't I take another of my 100mg.... oh wait, it's extended release, they'd overlap. Guess I'll just wait for my next appt. Yesterday was so miserable... I was pretty much bedbound until DH came home and helped me into the hottub which though temporary did feel lovely. Ultram-ER comes in 100mg, 200mg 300mg strengths.  However, it is quite expensive compared to generic immediate-release tramadol.  Personally, I prefer the flexibility of the immediate-release dosage form - not to mention saving me and the insurance company some serious $$$. thanks, Jasmine.  I'll have to discuss this with RD. You're right about the cost... my copay is /mo... a lot to add to all my other meds. When I was on Vicodan, I was very good about taking it only when necessary so most days only once. It was my request to not have to take a narcotic which made RD very happy.  Oh, I have another question now. The Vicodan made me sleepy so I mainly took it before my daily long naptime.  Does the tramadol immediate-rel do that? I must admit I like having a painreliever that doesn't make me have to lie down due to heavy-headedness, now, if only it would work better.... maybe the higher dose.

Please let me know if you experience any heavy-headness, sleepiness or quesiness from immediate release. I think I'm kinda sensitive, for example, if I take Tylenol PM, just one tab, then wake up even 4hrs later for bathroom, I'm woozy and can't wait to get back to lying down. My mom reacts even more so, but sis needs 2Vicodans to feel anything at all (would make Mom & me sick). People are so different.
