Ok...
so I got pmr in February of 08..
it hit my arms..and i literally could not move my hands, arms, anything..shoulders down...enormous pain..etc.etc..

ok..been on pred..and feel pretty good...you know..life..
and have tapered all of that..now am at 3mg...feeling alright...

then this weekend hubby wanted to go bowling...

i used to be pretty good (not REALLY good...just ok actually...but i liked bowling)

i thought, yeah...why not?

well after about 10+ gutter balls later..and no ability to move my arms after that and having loads of pain for the next few days..and having to increase my dose of pred...my hubby and me...learned once again that polymyalgia is NOT in my head...

i roared in laughter and thought...ok...cant bowl anymore...but couldnt wait to tell the only people that would understand....

smile!!
oh well......at least we keep on trying!
cathi
(but with the jelly belly i REFUSE to wear a bikini..i will not do that!)

I think we all ought to get together and have a contest for the  "Greatest Jelly Belly"  could be the start of a national championship!  We could post JUST our bellies online,  NO FACES and those of us on this forum could vote.   You brought a smile to my face today.  It's been a bad week for me, but Thanks be to God,  You made me laugh

Dear Bev...
KNOW I WOULD WIN GREATEST JELLY BELLY hands down!!
yikes..what ever happened to the waiste??
i love it when the talk shows tell you that your waiste should only measure so much...welll ...obviously NOT talking to pred people!!

i do look at old pictures of a svelter me...and sigh..
and tell the hubby...dont get your hopes up..it is going to take me awhile....
(oh and it is summer here!!)yikes!
cathiGuess I probably shouldn't have read this for a few months.  Just got diagnosed today, and kind of down.  I like to bowl as well, and I don't have the jelly belly yet :(
Thanks for posting though...sort of give me a reality check. I know I need to face this thing fast.
Hi sherry pretty lady!

Don't feel so down - as I said elsewhere, if you gotta have rheumatism, this is the best kind to have (my mum had RA, which was definitely worse!).  Also, being diagnosed is better than not knowing what's wrong (or worrying that it's RA), and taking pred is better than being in pain - MUCH better!  And finding this forum is REALLY good news - I'm here for the first time myself, too.

OK, the jelly belly is something to watch out for - I do eat more and have increased two dress sizes since starting the pred . . .  and Cathi B, I was hopeless at bowling even before PMR
