Vitamin D Levels Low Low!! What!! HELP!! | Arthritis Information

I recently went and had my vitamin D level check.  Doc didn't put what the levels were but I'm thinking they were really, really low.  I have been taking about 1000 IUs a day thinking that would help.  Within the lab results there was a prescriptions.  Get this she wants me to take 50,000 IUs for 8 weeks.  WHAT THE HELL!! Anyone on this Forum ever took that much.  Granted I live in the Pacific Northwest with 3 months of sun and I am African-American.  Then on top of that she wants me to take Vitamin D3.  What is that?  I have never heard of vitamin D3.

Can someone out there give me some insight on this?

There have been several articles linked too recently about Vitamin D. I am sorry that I cannot provide you with a list, but it is thunder and lightening and I need to close this machine.

Check out http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/vitamind.asp for some pertinent information.

Cheers, Shug
