I work for a jekyll-hyde boss. The past 2 days he has been very nasty to me.

Today my legs are hurting so I have flip flops on.
He said Why do you have flip flops on?

I said because my legs hurt.

Oh he says- because you wear spike heels every other day now I have to put up with flip flops in the office?

I said my legs don't hurt from my shoes- I have something wrong with me.

A vendor came in just then and he left without commenting.

I have worn spike heels since I fit into high heels and they never caused my legs to hurt.
he should be glad you sometimes CAN wear spiked heels.... I wear plain flats daily cause i cannot tolerate much of a heel... and my feet swell and unswell any given day.....

I have a Mrs. Jekyll-Hyde in my office... (I've told you about her)

Iwould bet your Mr. J-H is not a feminist.......  Oh he is a terrible sexist
Oh he is a terrible sexist
Ha!  thought so.....

he's treading a thin line w/ those comments....Sounds like a nasty guy.He can be a very nasty guy and sometimes very nice.  Sometimes I'm sweetie and sometimes I am dodging boxes he is throwing.
Past couple of days he has been very bereting. I am just about at the end of my patience because I don't feel well.
We have no written dress code. I suppose flip flops are casual but for some reason closed in flats hurt more than high heels do.

Care to know what I wore to church on any sunday I go?

I wear a dress shirt, my black slack dress pants, and my tennis shoes. I have thought about wearing my slippers, but... I do not want to get outdoor cooties on them... so I wear my tennis shoes.

Dress up to me is everything, BUT my shoes.

Sorry, to hear of your week, and your PITA boss.
I miss pretty shoes so much, even cute flip flops. All I can wear is sturdy tennis shoes with orthotics. My achilles tendonitis might benefit from the brace dr Rx, but it aggravates the plantar fascitis. So, I understand. Maybe you should bring a note from your dr to convince your boss it is due to a medical reason. Is he older and old-fashioned? Well the only shoes I can wear and tolerate for any length of time are work boots. I'm sure my doctor would give me a note. I also documented the comment. I have a log I keep although I'm not diligent about it...
When he hits my last nerve I make a record of what he said but unfortunately I have a very high level of patience. (and a low tolerance for extra paper work). I know it's not personal- it's just his personality. However as a manager he should not be acting in such a manner. Recently he mouthed off to someone in a very high position in corporate. He will probably end up shooting himself in the foot one day and I won't have to do anything at all about him.

sounds like he may have his own issues he's dealing with and attacking you about shoes is his way of releasing...... bad choice... but people do it all the time....

Hang in there.. Hope your legs feel better
