Saw the Rd and got part one of the two part Rituxan infusion today. Go back in two weeks. He ordered a chest xray due to the shortness of breath and chest wall pain. Do have a few inflammed joints-no surprise there.

He once again suggested that I go to Duke. Not thrilled with the plan-but something has got to be done about this chest pain. He did say that the last time he referred someone, it took 6 months. I guess I'll do it. Anybody here see a specialist there?

In the meantime, he wants me to try acupuncture. He's checking into insurance. I don't know about this idea.....Am glad you were finally able to get Rituxan.  I haven't gone to Duke but you might consider it.  They may have some answers for you.  If your insurance will pay for acupuncture, why not try it.  I would.  Good luck.  Lindy

if your RD recommends accupuncture and the insurance will pay... go for it..

and Duke?  why not?  It would be two opinions and some relief in the bag maybe?

Best to you!
I agree with Lin & Babs. Hope the Rituxan brings you relief! I was surprised he mentioned acupuncture as well. He said that he has patients that swear by it.   I don't know, it always seemed kinda "out there" for me.

I also don't know what Duke will find that he hasn't already. I do know that they are a top center-at least according to the medical rankings. He actually first mentioned Harvard-bit far from VA. Duke and Hopkins were his second choices. I have a friend who got her MD from Duke so she quickly volunteered to "road trip" with me. Probably don't even need to worry about it now since it might not happen till Christmas!Rocckyd, I too wish you much relief with your infusion.

FWIW I know several people who also swear by acupuncture for pain relief. Give it a go and keep us informed.

Has school finished for this year so that you can enjoy some time to wind down and relax?

Best wishes, Shug

I had a neighbor back in CO that had spine issues and he said acupuncture worked wonders for him. If I remember right, he only stopped going because the lady he went to was no longer available. The replacement "poker" just made him hurt (where the needles went in.) It's supposed to be painless if it's done correctly. I say go for it if the insurance covers it! :)   Hope you find some much needed relief soon. *hugs*

ROAD TRIP!  We could party 'til 10!!!  (PM, of course!)  Maybe we could caravan to Duke and get a gimp - I mean group discount!  I have often thought about going to the Mayo or some where like for a full re-evaluation, sort of second opinion.

I hope you get some quick relief with the Rituxan soon!  You are due!!!   I have had many friends that have done acupuncture... what could it hurt if the insurance pays?  I vote go for it too.

Are you enjoying some time off?  I am sure your son is glad to have his summer started.  You take good care, you, Rebecca, are one of my inspirations!
