so if anyone has ideas of what i can do to not be bored
that wont be painful
then u should tell me

Hi Star.  Crosswords, scrapbooking, wordsearch.  Baking, voluntary work, light duties only.  My girlfriend runs a respite centre for mentally ill people, I intend to just turn up on a better pain day than normal and just keep some people company etc, when I can.  Hope this helps, and welcome to AI, from Janie.ooh those were some good ideas
maybe i'll do a wordsearch
those r usually fun
for a while
until i cant find any more words lol
Hey little girl, go to King.com - they have fun games 2 play for free.
read a book?  A good book - not an assignment..... Do you like to read, Star?  I love reading in the summers......well i guess i have to read
for the summer, its like summer homework lol
we gotta read 10 books
but they can be any book we want
im already on my second book lol

reading is boring for me, but i dont mind it every once in a while

Star, I didn't mean to offend by suggesting the Leamony Snicket books, only that as an adult, I enjoyed reading them.   They offer much that is faaaaarrrrrrr above the 3rd grade!  I think he was writing those books as much for adults as for children and as an adult, it sure has a different perspective!  You may want to revisit them to see what I am talking about, though I doubt you could convince them to give you credit for reading them!

How about the Hobbit?  Tolkien in one of my most favorite writers!  His prose is exceptional in the ability he has to take you into the middle earth!  I like that type of fantasy, it is a great escape!  And of course, Lord of the Rings is even better!  You would probably get credit for reading 3 books for Lord of the Rings!  And you may learn some elvish!

How about the Inheritance Series of three books by Christopher Paolini?  More fantasy flying with dragons!  He began writing these and published the first, Eragon, at 19 I believe.  Talk about working hard at a young age!!!
waddie, like i sayd in the other thread
u didnt offend me lol
its ok, i was still reading them last year
i had just finished them then lol
and ur right, everyone likes to read them, i guess
even my dad read one of the books in the series, lol.

well right now
i started a book called
The Glory Field
its by Walter Dean Myers

even tho we get to pick what books we want to read this summer
we HAVE to read 2 out of 4 that they had on the list

so i HAVE to read
The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers
and Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

then i can choose the other ones i want to read
suprisingly The Glory Field isnt so bad
its about slavery and a family of black people
and it goes like a timeline, throughout different generations of the family
im on like page 30 somethin, just started this morning
lol
It sounds like a good read Star.  Please let me know how it turns out, I may want to read it too.  Have you read the Twilight series?  They are pretty good, a different look at vampires for sure!  The last book gets a wee bit carried away with itself IMHO!

When I was your age, I was not crazy about reading either.  A friend had just finished A Seperate Peace by John Knowles and suggested it to me... :O .... It was beyond good and when I finished reading it, I just wanted to read more good books, really good books!  I think that is the way it goes with reading, you just get hooked by a good book and you learn to visualize the story and characters and begin to see the story like a movie in your head.  That is what I do anyway.
yup i think it'll be really good
the sad part is
since its one of the books u HAVE to read
they also gave us a worksheet to do about the story
which i think ruins the fun, and makes it seem more like work rather than reading for enjoyment lol

most of the kids in my class and school, read the Twilight series
i didnt tho, my best friend just recently did a few weeks ago
and she thought it was awesome, so i think i may read them too this summer
but thats cuz she always reads, all day whenever she has a spare moment
but thats why she's so smart all the time lol
i guess the more u read the smarter u r
lol
Yeah, sometimes the hype about a book or movie just is so much that you actually resist reading/seeing it and you sort of feel disappointed when you do read/see it.

I guess reading maybe makes you  smarter because it increases your vocabulary and understanding of words, at least, that is what I think!  It also makes it easier to read and understand things that are not so much fun to read.  Like, for me anyway, science.  I always had a difficult time with science but probably because I had such poor science teachers in school.  I find it much easier now, but from grade school to college, I struggled!

LOLOL!  We keep crossing our wires on where to post!!!

I most certainly think you shoud hear your mom out on what she says about reading!  It is so easy to get distracted!  Maybe if you set aside a time, like one hour before you go to sleep or an hour after lunch, to read it would not be so easy to put off.

When I read, I usually get so caught up in the story, someone has to pry the book from my hands!  And, I usually end up staying up waaaaaayyy past my bedtime to finish a book!
yeah some of my teacherz say reading makes ppl smarter
even my social studies teacher sayd so
lol

but ive had headaches like everyday this week and i dont feel like reading lol

this morning at my grandma's house, while i was reading The Glory Field
i actually fell asleep, when i woke up my mom was already home lol
and we had to leave
i guess thats what happens when u wake up at 5:30
lol
I am soooooo not a morning person!  Once I get up and going, I am okay, it is just the getting up part!yeah me too
im super cranky in the morning lol
but after a while im ok
lol
Star - what about swimming????  I live in Connecticut, too, so I know its been raining alot.  I swam on a swim team growing up and I know how good the water can feel on an achy body (I did not have RA growing up).  Sometimes the cool water is so refreshing and helps with anything that hurts.  Do you have a town pool near you?  Do you know how to swim?  Are you doing any summer camps this summer?

Mom2
wow lol
it seems like EVERYONE lives in connecticut
ur like the second person on here that lives in CT lol

yeah its been raining alot
well when it gets sunny, hopefully soon
i have a nice pool in my backyard
that i enjoyed last summer
and hopefully i'll go in it this year too

and yeah i probably have a town pool nearby too

nah, i hate summer camps, they just seem so boring
lol
Star - what about bike riding?  First, do you have a bike?  Do you have a safe place to ride?  Do you have friends to hang out with?

Mom2

Star - do you live anywhere near Suffield?  They are doing an "Extreme House Makeover" this week.  IT will be aired in September.  My son (age 16) and I went to volunteer for the Foodshare this afternoon.  Lucky for us, most of the big storms held off until we were done.  We got to go see the house they are building.  It really is a neat production.  You could go to that if y ou live anywhere near it.

Mom2
well this is slightly embarassing but
i never wanted to learn how to ride a bike
seemed to hard

my best friend knows how tho
maybe she could teach me this summer
lol
and yeah there's a nice trail
close to where me and her live
so we could go there and ride sometimes
if she taught me, of course lol
Star - I live near the rail trail that I think starts in Suffield, CT and goes to Route 4 in Farmington.  Its a beautiful bike path and safe to ride.  We (my family) ride on it alot.  Do you go to the movies during the summer?  That's always fun.    What does your friend like to do besides read?

Mom2
yeah its always fun to go to the movies
well all she does usually is read and plays video games
sometimes she likes to play outside
and she luvs to go swimming
lol
Well, hopefully our rainy weather pattern will change soon and you can go outside more.  The great outdoors has so much to offer.  Have fun!

Mom2
yeah going outside is fun
too bad i cant be in the sun much
lol
