First Orencia infusion | Arthritis Information

Share

I had my first infusion of Orencia this morning.  I had the slightest bit of a headache a while after the infusion but other than that nothing else happened.  If I don't end up with the mother of all infections or something I can say that it went very well.  I know it can take a while for it to work but I think it might be the one that helps me with this damn RA this time.  I'm thinking of maybe doing a diary so I can keep track of how things are going with the new med.  Anyone else done this?

Bob,
I haven't done any of the biologics as the collection of pills I take seems to be doing the job for now;  just want to wish you well and hope this is the treatment that will work for you.  And yes, keeping a sort of medical diary or journal does help for reference later - and means u will hve info that helps the doc and rheumy.

Hi Bob!

Glad to hear you started orencia. I hope it does help you.

When do you get your next infusion?

Nope, do not keep a diary or anything like that. Just always forget. I started one, one time... but only got 2 pages and then kept forgetting about it.

Please keep us updated.
I am glad you're starting the Orencia...... and I think a diary of sorts is an excellent plan..... I've thought of doing that and of writing my foods for the day to see what "flares" me a little.
good luck!
Wishing you MUCH success with Orencia Bob! I think a log is a very good idea.  I started one to see just how many joints really bothered me from day to day. I tend to focus on good things and push down bad and I couldn't decide if I need more medication or not. After keeping the log...I think I do.Hope this is your magic bullet!

I too think that a diary/journal is a very good idea. There are several versions available on line that might give you some ideas of how to begin.

Best wishes, Shug
I hope Orencia works for you.  I am doing my 3rd injection of Enbrel today and I hope it starts working for me soon.Hey Bob!  I'm so glad to hear that your first infusion went so well.  As I mentioned before, be sure to be fully hydrated and that will keep the headaches away.  I had a severe headache with my first infusion, but had no adverse side effects, at all, with my second (I drank six glasses of water and they ran IV fluids with the Orencia).  I have my third infusion, next Thursday.  Please keep us posted on your progress.

I think keeping some type of journal is a great idea.  I might try doing it myself.

Thanks for sharing!

I've had a headache most of the day today.  At first I thought it was going to become a migraine but then it started to let up as the day wore on.  That and a bit of nausea upon waking up this morning but if that's the worst it gets then I'm going to be fine.  Another funny thing too.  I know it's WAAAY to early for it to be having any effect but for some reason my fingers and ankles are less stiff today.  I don't think my pain meds are going to affect that and I've been cutting the pred again...I've finally made it to 30mg daily.  Those that know me know that I've been as high as 100mg daily since last August so I'm really psyched about being down this far.   Can't wait to hit the 10mg mark with this stuff and the research I've been doing about steroid myopathy says that the muscle weakness should start to go away right around 30 with it gradually getting better with each dose reduction after.  Keeping the fingers crossed..

Hope you catch a break man
Bob, I so hope this works for you!  I keep a journal and have found it not only useful but also cathartic!  Though, at times, it is not necessarily something I wish to share as it can become quite personal.  I have some forms posted on the Combination Therapy  thread that are useful for medical progress, they may help you too.

I will be thinking about you Bob, and surely my hummmmmming will help!  You take good care!
Hey Bob!  I was thinking on ya and wondering how it was going?  Can you tell any difference in how you feel or is it too soon?
