Has anyone ever had a bleach product in their eye/s. I was doing the laundry and went to put some ACE stain remover in with the clothes, as i poured the stain remover into the lid my hand hit the wall and the whole capful went into my eye, the burning sensation was awful . I gave myself an eyewash for 20 mins but it still burning, no swelling or redness. Its just burning and I have a pain in the corner of the eye.
I called NHS Direct which is a help line and they told me to go to A &E but there is no one around until 5pm and i cant see to drive.
I just keep washing it. Do you think it will be okay to leave it until 5pm..its on 2.30pm now.
Can't you take an ambulance?  This is potentially sight-threatening.
Can't you take an ambulance?  This is potentially sight-threatening.
Ditto! Call a neighbour, a taxi, or an ambulance.
Thanks for the advice. As I wrote this my son came in from college early so Im off to hospitalIm back from A&E...With a patch.  I have to keep it covered for 24 hours. I have cream for it and an eyewash to use. I have to go back in 2 days.
Thanks for the advice, the doctor said if ever you are unable to get to a hospital quickly , get an egg cup and water keep the egg cup over the eye and blink continously, it will wash any remaining substance out until you can get medical helpwow.. that was fast...... not even an hour.Take care of yourself and good luck.Let us know how you are doing.Im doing ok... thanks . Theres a lot to be said for the NHS waiting times.!Our local hospital wasnt busy at that time of the day, only one little boy in there who broke his fingers. I saw a lovely nurse who was very thorough. She used a paper to test both eyes for any remaining bleach, then she used a machine to look into the eye , she then added a flourescent liquid to the sore eye and looked again, I had managed to wash the bleach out but had scratched the eye. I  just have some really sticky ointment to use.

A scratched eye is no fun, but better than a scratched eye w/ bleach, right?  Hope it heals quickly and doesn't cause too much trouble for you.Glad it wasn't anything worse than a scratched eye.  That must have really hurt!Wow, sorry to hear about all that Lisa, but I'm glad it isn't too serious.  At least the whites of your eyes are a little whiter today!  LOL!

YICKS! Glad you're ok.Hope you heal up and feel better soon. Good to see that all is alright now.

I am sorry about your eye. I hope it heals quickly.

Hope you're doing O.K. today.  Best wishes. What an awful thing to have happen!  That must have scared the bejeezus out of you!  I hope you are doing better today!Hope the corneal abrasion is feeling better.  I had a scratched cornea once - it was the most painful thing I've experienced in my life so far - worse than kidney stones, worse than a c-section when the epidural didn't fully work... OMG it was horrible. Hello and how is it going? How are you doing today?  Hope all is well. How are you doing?
What a dumbass!!!!  Ever heard of an ambulance?  A taxi?  So you get online at an arthritis forum to ask WHAT to do?  WTF?  Sounds to me like someone was craving a little attention.
