I take this....

IDK if anyone else does...
oh so thats what daypro is
thnx for telling me its nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug those shots the Dr gives u..with a long needle..it helps but the bone feels like it is cracking. I walk as much as I can. I also have a torn groin which does not make it easy I take it, I had knee surgery and the 3 synvsc shots. Nothing has helped. It has been ssince March. It is hard to get daypro. Not many Doc will give it to you. They are only givng it to me because I said I would have a knee replacement in Feb of 2010. I cant take the time off work now. I am on FMLA, and do nt have that many hours left. Anyone know of any other remedy. I have taken everything and the pain is awful. I am bone to bone. I had a car accident 1 year ago causing this. The humidity and rain do not help either. I live in Miami. I will take any suggeations. Thank you.
I take Daypro...it is so old they don't even list it in nurses drug books anymore....lolol

are you sure?  try looking up under Oxaprozin
Lynne, are you still around?
I'm also bone on bone after torn miniscus was removed, years after a motorcycle accident.  In the interim years my knee was repeatedly drained by docs and my gait is a little off. But with degenerative disc disease as well, the strian on my back and opposite leg also made walking etc unbearably painful. In 2009 orthosurgeon said total knee replacement-I work with people who had it-the recuperation time, the need for extensive after care, therapy, not being able to be home and go up and down stairs-made it a non starter for me. It seems there are so many of us who have to deal with medical decisions alone-I have adult children in another state and the thought of coming to stay and see me thru something like this would never occur to them, so I dont even put myself in the vulnerable position of asking them to do it.
I also realized because of the bone2bone issue in one knee that the other leg is slightly longer (1/2 to 3/4") and this is part of the pain problem. I added inserts in my shoe until I find the right height so that I could stand straight.
See if you can actually stand up straight or do you slightly tilt and favor one side?
I've been doing this for about 3 months-my bad knee has stopped buckling unexpectedly, but I ahve to be so careful on subways and buses-they jerk, stop start and you hangon with your legs planted, one good jerk dislocated my knee months ago and scared me badly.

Aside from dealin with having to recouperate alone, I have cats (yeah so I'm older, divorced and that is what some old women do, get something furry) and they are more neurotic than I am-Oscar and Felix reincarnated-boarding them for the duration would probably be the end of them.

What ticked me off tho, was when I told the orthodoc that surgery wasnt an option right then and there, he walked out of the room and the nurse came and and said we'll order Synvisc injections-I called twice to follow up, they didnt order it! I guess surgery is where the money is...

What is Daypro (oxaprozin)?

Oxaprozin is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Oxaprozin works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Oxaprozin is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis.

Oxaprozin may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
