my cat is so funny sometimes, she hates thunderstorms and usually hides
lol

yeah i think the storm is almost done, in the part of my state where i live

but its not done yet for the other ppl
Are you in Connecticut Star?  That's where I live and that's just what has been happening here!

yup im in connecticut lol

and its still thundering, i thought it would stop soon
but it didnt
oh lol
sometimes i like thunderstorms
the lightning does look pretty cool
lol
Yeah, Connecticut really got it's butt kicked with storms today.  There are trees and power lines down everywhere, trees into houses, houses hit by lightning.  It took my husband 2 and 1/2 hours to get home from work, and it usually takes 40 minutes.  Every road he took was blocked with tree limbs and power lines, so he'd have to turn around and try another route!  We had hail that about the size of a quarter for quite awhile at my house.  I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and see if our roof or siding is damaged!

Whew, I'm glad that one is over!  Hope everything is okay at your house Star!

Yikes I hate thunder and lightening too!  I close all the blinds but when I was as young as you I had a greater fear. I used to go in the upstairs hallway and shut all the bedroom doors. No windows then. I felt safe and sound. My mom had an adult friend so terrified she used to close herself in a closet LOL! yeah it wasnt as bad where i live
i dont even think we got hail
lol
yeah thunderstorms r sorta scary
We too had thunder, lightening , wind, and torrential rain. Several area roads were closed due to flooding, non-native trees blew over or snapped in half, and we were without electricity for much of the afternoon and early evening.

Living at the foot of Thunder Mountain we have spectacular thunder and lightening storms year round. Lightening is especially awesome during a snow storm.

I hope everyone is safe and dry today.

Cheers, Shug
yup im ok, we didnt have any damage around where i live

but im sorta worried about ppl in other parts of my state
one place had alot of damage, and that was when the storm had just barely started.

just hope everyone's ok and safe, and if any damage that it can be easily fixed.

oh wow, i looked out my window and its sunny
hasnt been sunny in quite a while
lol
GOod luck with the storms.hey Star..... does your laptop cord plug into a surge protector?  that will help protect you from a surge of power like in a thunderstorm .... And my husband says most power supply's provide their own surge protection.... though not as much.
You could have stayed plugged in.

I love to watch thunderstorms...... I've watched thunderstorms over the atlantic ocean in Miami that were beautiful.
Babs-

It sounds like she doesn't like thunderstorms.
yeah Babs
i did plug it in eventually, or else my laptop wouldve turned off
but nope, we have surge protecters but i dont have one in my bedroom
except for the one behind my TV, but all the plugs r being used for that

next time i guess i'll stay plugged in
my mom had kept her's plugged in lol

oh and  btw Jan Lucinda
im a guy lol
ok, some ppl make that mistake tho
ur not the first...
Well good luck, male or female!I ran around my house turning everything off and unplugging things.  I've lost things before by lightning strikes.  A few years ago we had a strike on our hill that took out our invisible fence, our 13 inch tv, and the neighbors big screen tv.  We also had someone in our town who was hit by lightning while talking on the phone, so I don't do that either when it storms.  Living on a hilltop, the strikes hit to close to home!

But I have to say I actually do love thunderstorms.  When my kids were little, we used to have Thunderstorm Parties.  We would turn out the lights, and spread a blanket on the livingroom floor and have a picnic while watched the lightning.  I did it so they would look forward to storms, rather than be afraid of them.

omg wow
maybe i shouldnt use my laptop
lol
since my street is like a hill
and i live really close to the top

i wouldnt wanna ruin my laptop
i havent even had it for a year
its a year old in august

of course we had other computers before
but i dont have to share my laptop
so thats why i gotta make sure it doesnt break lol
It's a cheap expense... a surge protector that can save an expensive piece of equipment... your laptop!

Anyway...... nature has a beautiful display of fireworks!!

There are reports every summer of people hit by lightning here in CA. You do have to be careful.yes.. okay..
the odds of being struck by lightning in any year are 1 in 400,000

[/QUOTE] It is getting ready to begin again here in the High Mountain Desert of Southeast Arizona. The deeply indigo clouds have been racing together for the last hour, it is sprinkling lightly, and the echoes of thunder are rumbling down the canyons.

Time for a cup of green tea and a respite on the verandah to watch this miracle of transformation begin.

To storms! Long may they rage.

*I* am envious!!   ENJOY the spectacular!

I think I love the storms across the water...   the expanse is so great ----you see so much!!
