Other problems related to RA? | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has had back/spine problems related to RA?

Before I was diagnosed, 1-2 yrs ago, I didnt have a problem in the world. Now all these things are happening . The RA doctor says it doesnt have to do with RA, just from getting older (I'm 34)

I had a large disc herniation, L5-S1, right leg numb, weak, they did surgery in February. Five Weeks later I reherniate it they said and had the same surgery over again in March. Every since, back hasnt healed right, pain radiating into my hips, right leg starting to get tingly numb spots. I have an MRI scheduled this Monday.

So , has anyone had back issues, or anything else their doctor has told them has to do with the RA? Sometimes I wonder if these things that are happening really are being affected by RA even though the dr. says it doesnt.

Thanks!

Kelly
I have lower back problems that also affect my leg( left leg) they first thought it was my hip as I had groin pain but I had an MRI. My RD said it is  RA of the spine and there was another name i would have to look at my records
I would see what the MRI shows up. I hope you get this sorted soon.
Could they see the RA in your lower back on the MRI?

Thanks Mrs Pinchushion

I know I had a lot of back problems, mostly in my neck/upperback/shoulder area and I could have swore I had something bad wrong with it, but xrays showed nothing. Then I was DXed with Fibro and then recently I was put on Lyrica and it all has gone away. Most of my back problems have gone.

My RD said that my RA aggravates the Fibro and vice versa. So... when I start getting return of symptoms of RA before my remicade infusion, the ole fibro will act up, because I will have a lot of inflammation going on.

I hope you can get some relief and find out what is causing you the back pain.
