Never Been Stung | Arthritis Information

I have never been stung by any type of bee in my entire 30 years. Until... yesterday.

I am not sure my immune system knows what to do about the bees venom. My thumb and into the palm of my hand to my wrist is painful, itches, severly swollen, very warm to the touch and bright red. It less after taking benedryl, but it is still swelled and red and warm to the touch. My thumb looks like it is going to explode. And my thumb is numb?? I cannot things touching my thumb or the palm of my hand where the thumb is. But I can feel the throbbing pain and itchiness.

Today... my other fingers are swelling along with my thumb. Not as bad as my thumb, but they were not red and swelled like they are today.

Has anyone else been stung since being DXed with RA? How long is this going to last. My hubby says 3-4 days, but man... if that is so... then I am NEVER going outside again. And people wonder why I do not like going outside... too many things to cause me more unnecessary pain!

If it ain't bees... its hidden "pot holes" in the grass.

Should I be worried about how much it swells and keeps swelling big again every 4 hours?
Wow...somebody else who has never been stung.  I haven't either---bee, wasp, hornet...nothing.  Kinda crazy since I worked at residential summer camps for 5 yrs. and lived in the woods. Plus taught riding outside.
From what I have been told...you should expect to be uncomfortable for a couple of days.
Hope you feel better...
Well you could call the doctor it is a Holiday weekend. Seems to me that if you are getting improvment from benadryl that it is an allergic reaction. You need to know if you are allergic as the next time it could be more serious. People carry kits around with them if they are allergic to bees so they don't die. So the docs need to know if you are allergic. My boyfriend got stung by something. He was a little red for two days no swelling. His sister is deathly allergic to bees and has a kit with a syringe it.Hey I thought you said your goodbye yesterday...here's what you posted:

[QUOTE=joonie]Ok... I am done. Hubby said I cannot visit here any more, if some punk ass old biatch is going to take what I said as a threat and then threaten and call me names and upset me like he has, that I should not waste my time with an old man with flared up hemroids. And that he already has to put up with me complaining about one punk ass old biatch (Grandpa).

Wish all ya'll the best in your RA journey.

Now your board should go bac to being calm again.

Thanks for all the support and friendships.

I have learned from when my internet was cut off that I can "survive". It mightbother me not bein able to vent to ya'll, but hubby said he would let me vent to him.

Bye

Sooooooooooooo, why don't you get the f**k off the computer and go "vent" about your sh*t to your husband?

Are you really so attention deprived that you have to post sh*t like this????????  Pathetic!
Joonie...are you sure the stinger came out? If not, the area could remain red and get infected. If it doesn't get better in a day or so, you'll probably need to have it checked.

Glad you didn't leave btw!
Joonie, I thought you left.  What's wrong, after your little immature temper tantrum you decided you missed all your "friends".  Is that because you don't have any in real life?  Oh, don't answer that, we already know you don't.  Poor baby, only friends are here on a lonely ole' arthritis board.  You are pathetic.
I wonder what she's been doing with those 2 fingers that have no nails?  Herself?  Maybe her husband likes it up the ass?

Come on honey, you know I'd love to watch some girl on girl action between you and joonie's fingers!!!

trying WAY too hard to convince everyone that you're a manI don't have a beef with you Kelstev, other than the fact that you're canadian.

So, don't force my hand, you don't want to wind up on the wrong end of me, I promise you that!

I guess you didn't read what I said to Lev...it really doesn't matter to me what anyone here says or thinks of me.
I'd be pretty unstable if words on a message board from someone I don't know upset me.
too bad so many others don't feel that way.http://www.facebook.com/an.aud.life
Honey, if it makes you feel better to think I'm Audrey, have at it.  I really don't care.  I actually am glad you're convinced that I'm her, it deflects the attention off of who I really am.

So, believe what you want to, I really don't give a sh*t!
Well... when I got stung... the pain ran up my arm. It was crazy! Then the whole time after that I was a big baby, because my thumb was throbbing and itching and I could not use my thumb. I even thought about going to the ER to get it seen about, but I was not having trouble breathing or anything. Just that I was in a great deal of pain and could not use my right hand.

I already have a hard time using my right hand because of my index finger. it does not bend at the tip of my finger so I have to use my middle finger in place of my index finger.

OMG!  All you do is whine and bitch and complain.  Don't you know that people get sick of it after a while?

It was a f**king bee sting, GET OVER IT!

You know what you can do with your fingers?  Shove them up your ass!  Or your husbands, nails and all.
Question Joonie I guess you would know the answer more than anyone. Does RA effect the top joints of the finger as well as the middle joints and the knuckles? I always thought only osteo bothered the top finger joints. Well my hands do not flare as bad as alot of the rest of me. They have been lately. My middle knuckles swell but I have thought the top knuckles are hurting a bit also. I thought this maybe from all of the swelling in my fingers just adding pressure. But you just said that you can bend the top joint so then I guess they could be swelling then?[QUOTE=milly]Question Joonie I guess you would know the answer more than anyone. Hi Milly!

No, RA is not suppose to affect the tips of your fingers. I do not know why index finger is like this. It has been since I was a teenager.
What about your thumbs I think I have dequervians tendonitis quad laterally. I really do not know what they call in your big toes but it is the same principle. Sometimes I get red swollen hangnail area. I looked it up RA and Lupus and probably other stuff causes that. I think when your hands and fingers swell that everything hurts and I can not even always tell where it is coming from. Probably some tendon issues. Except the middle joint on my pinkie finger wow that one just throbs. So strange my right hand is more swelled than my left. My left foot is more swelled than my right foot. If I had not started the prednisone when I did I think it would all just have been the same.

I hope the pred helps you, Milly. My right hand is always more swelled than my left. Just like it use to be my right knee that swelled the biggest, but as of lately my left knee is swelling bigger than my right knee.

I think what is wrong with my right index finger is that it has something to do with the tendon. My index finger is all curved upward like it is pointing upward.

I was reading about bee stings and it says your immune system is to fight off the venom. I was just wondering if mine was not fighting off the venom because of how it keeps swelling and all.
I don't know? Usually swelling is an allergic reaction. Like I said earlier the first sting if you react to then if it happens again it can be alot worse. I have been stung twice. Once when I was a kid. That was not even the bees fault. LOL I was playing football with my brother he tackled me and my knee just landed on the bee. Then a couple of years ago one got into the house and he went up my pants leg and stung me on the thigh. It hurt really bad when it stung me but I did not have any reaction or swelling.Try some vitamin C. It is a natural antihystamine and I read somewhere that it can help with bee stings. Does of course not mean it is true just because I read it. LOLhahahaa! Well, it is back to swelling big again. I guess the benedryl wore off again. It is itching like nobodies business LOL! I keep scratching it, but I am not scratching where the bee stung me, which was in the middle of my thumb pad.

I might have a piece of the stinger still stuck in my thumb, I can see a little brown dot where it stung me. I am not sure if that is a piece of the stinger or not. It does not feel like anything in there. I will get hubby to look at it again tomorrow under a good light or in the sun. So he can see if it is a piece of the stinger or just a hole where the stinger went in.

I think it was a sweat bee that stung me. It was not his fault either. I grabbed him when I went to bring the back of my shirt to the front to ring out the water and he was there. Poor thing... he died for no reason.
