Newly diagnosed w/ osteo-arthritis | Arthritis Information

Hi Donna :)

I'm 50 years old  and recently been diagnosed also with OA. For the past 4 months I have suffered excrutiating pain in my lower back (facet joints). I tried Glaucosomine Hydrochloride (Osteoeze) for those 4 months, in fact I'm still taking it, but with no pain relief as yet.  My doctor just last week also put me on Celebrex, which offers much relief and makes life very bearable and I'm now at least mobile.  I'm yet to try anything else new (alternative) apart from watching my diet starting to add ginger, pineapple and a few foods suggested to assist with arthritic pain.  I have however heard good reports of a Natural Herb product Feverfew 500mg. Only thing about Fevefew from what I am told is, the Celebrex will discount the Feverfew benefits.  Its also been suggested Feverfew may stop the progression of OA and may even reverse it.  Worth a try I say. My only concern is, I don't want to stop Celebrex to live in excruciating immobile pain to try Feverfew........so I'm caught in a bit of a dilema. There are no contradictions with taking Celebrex and Feverfew from what I understand, but would there be any benefits in taking Feverfew at the same time as Celebrex? if the benefits of Feverfew are discounted??  You might be brave enough to stop Celebrex to try it??  If anyone else has a view on this, please respond  CHEERS and good luck :)

try contacting the makers of celebrex and see if you qualify for low cost or no cost thru the makers. they often cover this is your insurance does not and incomes can be higher thatn you would thinkd. search needymeds.com

CHEERS Pattycakes :)

Thankyou for that info. I will search that up Thanks again.

Celebrex here in Australia, well South Australia at least is covered by a scheme where I get 60 capsules (200mg) for .50au. At todays exchange rate that is .8316 USD.

I started accupuncture last week and had 3-4 days of pain releif and mobility (NICE) and most welcomed.  While I was there I learned of a treatment called Prolotherapy you might want to do a search. I start my Prolotherapy tomorrow.  The aim for me is to get off the Celebrex. That may or may not be possible?.  The cost is not the issue for me.  I dont like the immplications of the possible long term side affects.

CHEERS again and Thankyou Carolyn/Cazz Pattycakes :)

needymeds.com is a scheme available to USA residents :) I'm living in Australia :)

CHEERS and Thanks again :)

hi... hope it would turn out right doona, thanks for sharing these to us, we appreciate what you share to us..

G'day Antipodean :)

Just back from my 2nd Prolotherapy treatment (Ouchies) but I had a 60% improvement for at least 5 days, and a total overall improvement of at least 20% after 1 treatment.  So all fingers crossed for an additional 20% this time.  Naproxen? I wonder if that is in the family of most NSAIDS?? most I cant take due to an ulcerated Osophegus from Anti-inflamatories 20 years ago after back surgery.  But I do like the sound of reparagen :)  I'll look into it.  It doesn't matter if it's not available in Adelaide yet. I've been purchasing most of my vitamins of late from USA in bulk and a lot cheaper through Doctors Trust.  I'm taking the Osteo Specifics (Doctors Trust) and a few other non OsteoArthritis vitamins.  The strengths are better for the money and even worth the delivery cost. I'll take a peak and see if reparagen is available through them, Otherwise I'm sure I can get some sent over :) I'll research it first of course :)

Thanks ever so much for your post.  And all the best with reparagen :)

CHEERS Carolyn/Cazz :) Today is my Birthday, I'm about to go have a long soak in the spa and a glass of wine when my sister arrives :)
