I war wondering what you all do for the exhaustion - I was taking provigil and it really really worked -but then I started feeling really good so I stopped taking it.  In the lsat 2 weeks it has come back full force but my RA doesn't seem to be acting up at all.  I have an apponitment with my rheumy in August but was hoping you all had some suggestions till I see him.  Thanks in advance.  Hugs and good vibes.   TTT - so maybe someone can see and have a suggestions.I just read all your posts, so now I know you don't really need any help here. excuse me - but I wouldn't have asked for advise and/orhelp if I didin't need it.  Hugs and good vibes. Lets move this back up! is fatigue the same as exhaustion?

We had another newbie that was having bad fatigue as well. I was trying to remember the name of the med you say you are on, but could not think of it for the life of me and not even google found it for me. While fatigue ia a big part of RA it is also a symptom of a lot of physical problems.  Things to look at..your diet are you eating a well balanced healthy diet or are you going with carb heavy processed foods.  Lack of iron due to anemia. Thyroid disease. Stress....lack of exercise

Years ago, my RD told me to adjust my life. So, I did and it works. Every day when that fatigue, bodypains, brainfog hits me, I go to bed. If I don't give into it when it starts, my nap can be longer than 2hrs, otherwise a 1 1/2hr to 2hrs absolutely restores me for the evening. It makes joint stiffness reoccur but that's a lot easier to deal with. I still sleep deeply at night. I'm routinely checked for thyroid, anemia, other disorders. This fatigue started when RA did, not a moment before or after.

So my treatment for the fatigue is falling into the deep pit of sleep... every afternoon.
It helps me for the evening so my whole family knows to include it into their plans.

My husband suffers with fatigue, more so when he is flaring. He finds short naps are best.

Remember, not all things are RA, including exhaustion.
Remember, not all things are RA, including exhaustion.
actually this is an important reminder. Not all of our symptoms are related to RA. Its easy to assume that RA accounts for everything and it certainly should be ruled out but do not quickly dismiss other causes of symptoms especially when those symptoms don't respondto medication

I was once on Provigil. I slept for nearly three months. That was about two years ago. I have never gotten that bad again. Well maybe for a day or two but not for months like that. Like you I quit taking the medicine when the need for it left. I think the difference maybe that I am under a doctors care now and was not at the time. There are many people on this forum that suffer from chronic fatigue. I think exhaustion and fatigue run hand in hand. I would certainly have them run some test to make sure it is not something else. Alot can go on when you have RA. I hope you get to feelling better. Let us know what the docs say.

Thanks all - I am going to see if I can get in to see my rheumy earlier - and think until then I'll go see my PCP to be sure nothing else is going on - it was a hassle getting my insurance to approve Provigil before so I am not looking forward to doing that battle again, but the stuff sure works.  Hugs and good vibes.
P.S. Here is a link for info on Provigil: http://www.provigil.com/
While fatigue ia a big part of RA it is also a symptom of a lot of physical problems.  Things to look at..your diet are you eating a well balanced healthy diet or are you going with carb heavy processed foods.  Lack of iron due to anemia.
