Has anyone tried Emu Oil? | Arthritis Information

Hi all, I'm a bit of a newbie.

About a week ago I received some 'pure australian emu oil' from emu-oil-well.com and I've been using it on my right wrist.

I have to say that I have noticed and difference and although I'm not without pain it is much more manageable. I wanted to know if anyone else had tried the stuff and if it had worked for them.

For anyone that cares it was £6.95 for a 55g pot that should last 6-8 weeks. Dunno if this is psychosomatic or what but I am impressed.

I have not tried emu oil specifically for joint pain, but have used potions, lotions, and notions that contain the animal fat in sufficient quantities to qualify as emu oil-based.

It has been my experience that it is less the oil, balm, elixir--regardless the base or the claims-- that soothes the joint ache and reduces the stiffness than it is the action/friction/contact of rubbing the unction onto the skin and stimulating the blood flow to the joint(s).

I am glad you found something to help you. Cheers!
I agree. All joints like a massage on occasion!
From what I've read it seems that emu oil penetrates the skin and stimulates cell regrowth and reduce swelling which I guess would help to heal any joint problems. Either way I'm very happy with it.

I love emu oil! Laid in Montana  (yes, that's the company name- www.laidinmt.com) makes wonderful emu oil based products. I'm power sanding my deck this week and after 3 hours of it, my hands and wrists hurt like crazy. I've got a 15% emu oil hand lotion that I rub in after sanding and it helps immensely. I know it isn't just the notion of the massage because lotions without emu oil don't have the same pain relieving effect.
