So what's the deal with erosions? I have not read up on erosions too much yet. Just a little here and there, but I have no idea what I am looking for when I google.erosions are what lead to RA deformities...so its a big deal.  Erosions are the wearing away of cartilage and bone.Joonie, looking at the pictures of your hands, it looks like you probably have some joint erosion. What does your RD say?Hi guys, I have been diagnosed with ersions now in my feet, and my RD told me that if they are whats causing all my feet pain and inability to walk too far, then I will have to have surgery to pin etc.  It is a big deal and my GP wants me to see a new RD to get on another Dmard or biologic immediately.  I refused any more Rituxan as all the labs etc are sky high etc but my biggest fear is the brain disease, I am not willing to take that risk with two young children to take care of and hopefully watch them grow up too.  Regards Janie. The only way to tell if one has erosion is from xray, MRI or something like that.

I had xrays recently of my hands, wrists, feet and ankles and thankfully so far so good!
Janie! I am soo sorry to hear of your feet. It does sound painful and I have heard you talk about your feet before and pain you have too. I hope they can get you straightened out with something soon to help alleviate your symptoms so you can take care and be there for your children. Much hugs to you.

I recently had MRIs of my hands. They do show ersoions on 2 of my knuckles on my right hand and one on my wrist. And one on my left wrist.

I just wanted to know... what everyones take on erosions were. Like if they were painful, "reversable", and how big of a deal it was to have them. Like if it was common or uncommon. You know the basics to help me with keywords for google.

Thanks!
Don't know but good luck.erosions are not reversable, they can be very painful especially the weight bearing joints as the become bone on bone.  If erosions are occuring then you and your rheumatologist need to reevaluate a treatment plan to insure that the current treatment is in fact working.  You also should seek both occupational and physical therapyfor proper splinting as well a an exercise program to build up the supporting tissues.  Strong muscles help prevent the deformaties that come with erosions.

The only ultimate fixis surgery for joint fusion or replacement or resurfacing
That's why my doctor says I should still go on biologics. He says just because I got a clean bill doesn't mean anything.  PREVENTION  is the word. Thanks Buckeye! I am sure when I go back to my RD the end of the month, that she will be very concerned and talk more about my other options and all. Besides I believe she wants me off the Remicade anyways... so... we shall see.
