Are there any foods, diets that help pmr? | Arthritis Information

Ok, I'm confused how I got stuck with this disease, and now to figure out how I am going to deal with it. Yes, scared of trying prednisone due to side effects. But, as my sweet husband said "would you rather hurt or be chubby?"  Going to RA doc on 20th.

Is there certain foods to stay away from?  Any special diet that will help?
Any info truly will be appreciated. Sitting here in AZ wondering what to do. It is truly amazing how many things one does on a daily basis that is taken for granted. I feel soooo sorry for all that feel like this every day.  It really sucks.
dear Sherry...
welcome to the forum.. that you didnt want to be a member of!

I was diagnosed last year in February...and it has been a challenge, sometimes more than others.....but this forum really helps!
Prednisone is not fun....but it makes you be able to live..in a more normal way..i was literally crippled when i first got pmr..so to take it and not hurt was amazing! and everytime i complained about prednisone some of the wiser people on the forum gave me a good reality check..and told me that this is just a season we are going thru...
and altho we all complain about pred...it is the thing that makes us able to feel human.

regarding a diet..well
the anti inflamitory diet is the way to go..because it is inflamation that is affecting you...especially in the early months when i just was diagnosed, i was pretty strict with it.
i have only gained 10 pounds...but in the begining it looks like more..because there are side effects of pred..but these are temporary...

i felt real sorry for my self at times...and went here to find solace with others in the same boat..
then there were days i didnt even know i had pmr..things were going smooth...then the weather got bad and had a flare up..and my body told me it is time to take it easy.

so the main thing you can do..is rest, take care of yourself..take the pred...and soon it will burn out of your body..and all will be well..

laughing at all of this..is much better....this illness with all its difficulties..is not fatal...and you will see brighter days...
