Hi all ! I have been taking Plaquenil and injectable MTX. My RA is not well controlled and the doctor is starting me on Imuran. I don't see many taking this. Is anyone else had any experience with this drug? What can I expect?

I take Imuran 50mg 3x day. I started on that when I could no longer take MTX in combination with my Enbrel. I wasn't sure that it was doing any good until I had to stop my meds due to infection and the first drug added back was the Imuran. Thats when I found out it was helping. I haven't had an sideaffects from Imuran. Hope this helps.

I started Imuran (azathioprine) a few days ago. I have to say that so far the effects are far less than I had with CellCept and Cytoxan! I do have to make sure I take meds. for tummy upset, though.lily2pearl

I have been on Imuran(azathioprine) since December last year. Just got an increase ...now doing 300mg - 150 in AM and 150 in PM.
Has anyone had swelling of ankles and tightness in legs??? I think this is the med that is causing this or maybe Procardia.
Diagnosed Sept 2004 with RA and Diagnosed Jan. 2005 with Raynauds.
Younger sister 28 years with RA and other sister with Raynauds 10 years.
Energy levels are finally starting to level themselves but I think stress is playing a big part when I have a flare up. Went to Rheumy and felt find except for soreness in foot. (MRI came back normal) But the week of visit my life was very busy and full of stressful moments. Then inflammation was high again. Monthly bloodwork had been within acceptable range since starting Imuran.
ANYONE having the leg swelling???? Any help would be nice. Thanks!
