HIi,  Brsen, the only name given was Joe and he didn't call us by name.  Our little church only has about 60 people, So I would have known  unless he just come for a few times and it was years ago, I just don't think so.  They said they would be back Sat.   They were mexicans, not that it matters, the people next doog are, and are very good people, only reason I bring it up is, they didn't know much English.  Oh well I'll open gate and let the dogs ran front and back and tomorrow get alarms for the windows.  I won't sleep much that for sure.

That is a great idea an exra man, just don't know where to find one.  My husband is and has alway been a great person,  He just don't think anymore, after I jump him (shouldn't have) and the police, he's scared, said he don't know why he did it.
rusty2009-07-09 21:27:58So sorry that does sound scary. This does not sound right to me and something you need to be alert for.
Very fishy.
A very scary and unerving thing to happen. Keep alert and stay safe.
Be alert and don't doubt yourself, Rusty. People like that know if they act confident they can steamroll over you. It's hard for women in particular because they are raised to go along and be polite. If you got a bad feeling from them, it's for good reason. Don't put up with any of their crap just because they try to put one over on you. Good job calling the police.Sounds exactly like stories I have heard before. They are probably " Tinkers " or " Gypsies ". They are all CROOKS. Many want to repave your driveway or do home repairs. They will steal you blind.....BEWAREif they left the trailer, have the police run the plate number. it could be stolen goods.

Other than that, keep your doors locked! I am so sorry you have had this frightening experience and hope the police can track these people down and provide some ease for you mind.

Best wishes for a calm and peaceful day for you and for your husband.
Oh Rusty, I'm so glad you were home and handled this the way you did.  You were very smart.  This is so scary.

I worry about my mother, she is old and sick and has had men come to her house and say they are out of work and looking for odd jobs to feed their family, does she have any jobs they could do?  She just doesn't understand when I tell her it could be a scam to get access to her house and rob her!  She says well he looked like a good person!

Just wondering, is there any place you can remember that he touched anything in your house - perhaps the police could dust for fingerprints.
Very scary! Stay safe. Sorry to say; but you can't trust strangers. Rusty, that is scary!  Always trust that little thing in you gut that tells you something is wrong!  You handled things just right.  Could you maybe call your preacher and explain what happened and see if he could help find someone who could come for a bit on Saturday?  Heck, if you have to, hire a big yard boy for the day.  I agree with the dogs and alarms and letting everyone in the neighborhood what is going on; that should give you some peace of mind.

Unfortunately, just being elderly makes you a target.  It is so awful to me that someone could be such a low life!

You stay safe Rusty, and I am hoping you feel safe again soon and you worries are simple ones.  Last time I was in the middle of a reply and my computer went black!
Anyway- I'm glad you were able to see through this scam and thwart their attempt. People who prey on older folks will someday rot in hell! I think it's awful- there is so much of this going on today.
Thanks all for careing.
My granddaughter called and told me to read the Sacramento Bee.  The Roseville police are warning the eldery about a white woman and a hispanic man that talked their way into a 90 year old man's house and took his wallet and money, credit cards. The man sounded like it was the same man that come in our house.  Allso they are warning about 3 hispanic men in a pick-up, that are talking thier way into the homes of the eldery.  It sounds like the same people, We are about 30 miles north of Roseville.  Funny my daughter and granddaughter both wanted me to call Roseville police and let them know what happen.....What a joke, no money in Ca.
Oh well, tomorrow will be a better day.
Have a great night.  Rusty
wow... Rusty stopped the crime!!  Way to go!!
I'm glad you listened to the little voice telling you there was something wrong!!!

(Don't forget to call the other police dept on Monday.. they need to know which way these people are moving!! Good job!!)

babs102009-07-10 18:52:58Wow,  this is turning into a night mare.  The police just left.  Yesterday they didn't have time to take a report besides the details they got when I called them.  Tonight they wanted every little detail.  Three hispanic males went into an old ladies house  about 3 blocks from here, She got hurt and robbed, they wouldn't tell me too much, besides to say they are sure its the same one's that were here. I also told them about Roseville and they had me to look it up so they could read it.  They think it the same people, Right  now I feel lucky to be alive,  They said if they come back  to keep doors locked and dail 911.  I'm sure not going to sleep tonight.  people you better listen, keep your doors lock and don't let anyone in your house, and be careful when you are in the yard.  This world is getting bad.  I live in a small town,  We don't even have  a store besides what you can buy at a gas station. All the best Rusty, I don't know how those people sleep at night!  Keep safe and well done!  Hugs Janie.Still thinking of you Rusty and hoping that everything is okay.  I recall in the 40's thru 70's we did not even have to lock our doors.  Now it is ridiculous!  How sad......
