Wannabe is A-OK | Arthritis Information

Just wanted to let you know I had my gingival flap surgery this morning and a couple of percocets later I am feeling just fine!

It was an infection on the bone and now it is all gone. He cut out the surrounding infected tissue and put tetracycline and biologic protein on the bone and then stitched it up. He also moved some gum tissue on the front of the tooth that was affected because it was receded some and he wanted to protect it as much as possible. I have some putty like bandages front and back. I have to go back in a week to get the sutures out.

It was a lot of needles and I did have a little pain during. They told me I should only feel touch and pressure and to let them know if I felt pain. It wasn't really bad so I told them I was having a little and if it was going to be anymore intense maybe I needed another shot. He said it would not be so I sucked it up. They had given me a couple extra strength tylenol's before they numbed me.

I am so glad this over. So glad I'm not in any post -op pain! Of course I didn't give myself a chance. I figured I have the meds I'm going to use them.
Glad it's over for you. Wishing you a speedu recovery.YAY! Glad it's done and you're doing well! That's great!!!  I am glad it is over and your are not in pain, take care and rest this weekend.WTB,

You are a stronger woman than I!  I would have whimped out  and made them give me another shot.

I'm glad to read you are doing well.
Well I'm glad it all in the rearview mirror and you're feeling okay.  I'm sure getting this taken care of will make you feel much better.Good for you. When I was really sick my abcess was actually on my check bone. So when I said my face hurt people thought I was nuts or just having sinus trouble. The bloodwork comes in handy sometimes.good Job!!

Glad it's over.. finally!! and you can get back to things...

and move on w/ your RA med choice??  hmmm?  wantto??
glad everything went ok...take it easy this weekendI'm so happy to hear that things worked out for you.  I don't think I could have gone through all that.  I'm okay with my health issues and thier needles and instruments, but there's something about a dentist that just scares me to death.  I've had a phobia about them, since I was a kid.  LOL!  I'm glad that you were brave and handled it all so well!

Glad to hear it wasn't too bad! The dentist is absolutely, without a doubt, my least favorite place to be! LOLYes! I am so glad to know that the procedure went well and that you are doing OK. I send you my very best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thanks for all the well wishes! Still comfortable today but under my tongue is swelled up pretty good. Not sure why- it's not what was cut and that's not swelled up. Think I'll try holding some cool water there and if it doesn't go down I will call the dentist. I am thrilled you are doing so well! Good on you. I agree that it is wise to keep on top of any swelling: let us know.

Cheers!
Glad to hear you done well, and are doing A-OK! I, too, am glad everything went well for you.  I hope the swelling goes down and you have a speedy recovery. How is Wannabe today? Has the swelling resolved? Yes- swelling is resolved, thanks for asking! I think it probably had to do with laying flat all night.
This has certainly been a piece of cake. I am in no pain what so ever. Husband is like- how long  do you have to keep those bandages on? It looks like you have gum on your teeth! I'm like  shut up- until the stitches come out! I have to admit- it does look yucky and I'm at the point where my tongue keeps finding  where you could probably lift them them off... it does feel like gum that needs to get the heck off my teeth. Oh well Thursday will be here before you know it. At least I am infection free!!!!!

Glad you are doing ok and everything went well. I am no  big fan of the dentist and think you were certainly brave to go it without more pain meds. I'd of surely wimped out.
One more day until you can get rid of the gum on your teeth and have the sutures removed. Yeah! time for a celebration, say eh? Thanks for remembering Shug!  Last night I pulled my lip down to see if I could see anything and I saw black. I was like...oh oh is my gum rotting? I also had to go meet a new client today and was not happy about going with "gum" on my teeth. So gently I lifted the bandage with my tongue and it came right off to reveal a bunch of very ugly black stitches!
Luckily it adhered right back on! It looks a heck of a lot better with the bandage.
I think I can wait until tomorrow.....

I'm not sure Sno.  Sometimes I get twinges of pain which I wasn't getting initially. But they kind of feel like itchy pains and I think that means it's healing. But you know how I said I thought I might have come down with a cold? Then I said I was fine. But on and off I get a sore throat and I thought my lymphnodes felt hard under my jaw-(but I just felt them now and they don't). I think it's all in my head so I am treating it as such.

It will be nice to get rid of the stitches- they are scary looking! I think they would look better if they were made with clear thread!
[QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree]Do you have Sjorgrens? Just a horrible thought. I get swollen saliva glands. Also it causes dental problems. Maybe it is not in your head at all. [QUOTE=wanttobeRAfree]
