Enbrel injection reactions?? | Arthritis Information

Ok everyone  I started back on the Enbrel as the insurance company said I must re-challenge because they didn't feel that I had a true allergic reaction to it.  So it's been three weeks since restarting after being off of it for almost 3 months. Now I am starting to get injection site rash and this morning ai woke up with a sore or maybe wart like growth on my tongue. It doesn't hurt it is just there and is such a bother.  Has anyone else had any similar type of reactions while on Enbrel?   Should I be concerned or call the RD tomorrow?  I've been reading about so many Enbrel side  effects horror stories and I am getting a little worried frankly. Any thought or shared experiences woud be helpful. Thanks to  all for your support and concern. Gosh, I never had any reactions like that.  In fact, Enbrel worked perfect for me, but I was sick all the time with URI.  Hope you feel better soon.

Yeah I worry about that too. I also  get frequent URI's at least 3-4 a  year if not more. This last one kept me done for a little more than a week.  Now, though being diagnosed with the Hiatal Hernia  and Gerd I realize that part of my URI problems may have been from acid back washing and getting into  my lungs at night.  Also the frequent sore throats. I still worry with this Enbrel though. [QUOTE=mom2threeinaz] Now I am starting to get injection site rash and this morning ai woke up with a sore or maybe wart like growth on my tongue. In your situation I would "try" not to be concerned, but I would certainly call the doctor. In the early days of taking MTX I had some major outbreaks of mouth sores, but have not noticed any particular oral effects. The RD and the dermatologists told me that it is not unusual to have localized reactions to Enbrel. Except for some occasional, minor bruising at the injection site and an annoying headache I have not experienced any reactions.

I understand the worry. I spent more than a few agonizing moments before realizing and accepting that I was more scared of the potential life-threatening effects of RA and its myriad comorbidities than I was of the potential side effects of TNF. My physicians assure me that they are fully prepared to respond to side effects from the medication(s).

The decisions we each are forced to make with RA are worrisome, tiresome, and can be nearly overwhelming. Allow me to suggest you speak candidly and at length with all your physicians about your concerns and worries over treatment with Enbrel and make a well-informed and self-aware decision about continuing the therapy. Peace of mind is a very important component of any treatment plan.

Best wishes, Shug
I agree with Shug. Yikes- it sure is exhausting having to think about this stuff all the time.
