AP updates : (ie just AP or AP in combination) | Arthritis Information

I thought we may try again to have an AP update area where we could discuss anything at all to do with AP or AP in combination.

Let's give this one last shot.

why? you and pimp can't stir up enough sh!t at rodeback and AF? Hi Maz, how about making a new forum within this site, is that any good?  Cheers Janie.Great idea Janie, but unfortunately I have no control over what forums we have and don't have --- if I did I would certainly do that...
I am interested in this thread.  As you know-I am kinda at a crossroads in RA treatment.  Current meds aren't working and we are trying to come up with a new game plan.  My current RD isn't too encouraging with ap treatment but hasn't said that he would discount the idea.
Here is my question...Doesn't the treatment create antibiotic resistance?  And if you have an infection and pass the modified bacteria onto someone else-doesn't that increase the problem?  I looked up minocycline and see it is used for bladder infections, STD's, and other infections.  So, whatever infection I would have could possibly become resistant to mino and then get passed onto someone else.
I am in no way discounting this form of therapy.  I am just curious.  I teach biology and spend quite a bit of time lecturing on the proper use of antibiotics. It's the overuse of antibiotics that has caused many of the "superbugs" that are around today.  I am desperate to get this RA under control and I am very open to new ideas.  AP therapy is something I have not tried.
Another question...this one would be ladies only....
Would you not get an increase in yeast infections(I know, lovely).  Antibiotic use often has this side effect.  I know that probiotics can help.  I currently take culterelle(maybe spelled right) so I know the benefits.

Please keep this thread informative.  I hope this message doesn't come across as confrontational.  These are just thoughts that have been floating around and I was hesistant to post them on the other AP thread since it took the negative turn.

Not to discount this topic, but there is an established topic, Antibiotics for the treatment of RA wherein discussion has been civil, informative, and beneficial.

FWIW, Shug
Sorry...I guess I lost track since so many threads took totally different turns these last few months.Me too - seems I missed that one, sorry !![QUOTE=rocckyd]I am interested in this thread.  As you know-I am kinda at a crossroads in RA treatment.  Current meds aren't working and we are trying to come up with a new game plan.  My current RD isn't too encouraging with ap treatment but hasn't said that he would discount the idea.

You might look at some of the discussions on the Requesting APers thread.  This has been discussed before.
good questions, rocckyd......  from a scientific mind set...   I like that.

What words would you search for the reply in the Requesting APer thread?    it is nearly 300 pages .... any idea who may have discussed this, Jan?
You can do a search and it should come up.Rockyd

I am currently on AP. I failed the other meds so this was another line of treatment for me. I am keeping a diary that is a bit up and down on how I am feeling.
So far no side effects. I take probiotics . I havent seen a vast improvement in my RA but I def. am having less pain week by week.
This might sound bizarre but I have been taking rosehip. The flu like feeling with the RA has dissapeared completely. Somebody at  my AP meeting gave me a tip for a side effect,  I will PM you with it. Maybe its why I have been ok.
Nice post Mrs P,

Interesting that you are noticing less pain week by week - for some people it is more obscure than that where it is so gradual they don't notice it in the beginning.

Keep up the good work,
Maz
ps - can you pm me the tip as well please?
I posted some information on antibiotic resistance from The Road Back on the Requesting APers thread.  Might answer some of Rebecca's questions.time to stir the sh*t! Troll Henrietta-

How sweet!

nevermind....
