http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/111539.phpThanks Lynn, very interesting and uplifting, regards Janie.Does anyone know where Actemra is currently on the FDA approval list? IIRC approval was delayed as late as March of this year for additional information from Roche and its Japanese partner.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved Actemra (tocilizumab), a rapidly-acting biologic therapy which has been shown to deliver consistently high remission rates by attacking inflammation at its source.
Actemra is the first therapy specifically designed to inhibit the effects of interleukin-6, the most abundant cytokine in the rheumatoid synovium and a key driver of chronic inflammation.
"The availability of Actemra in Australia provides a new alternative for the treatment of people with rheumatoid arthritis whose everyday lives are dramatically affected by this crippling and incurable disease," said Dr Graeme Jones, professor of rheumatology and epidemiology at the Menzies Research Institute and head of the department of rheumatology at Royal Hobart Hospital.[/quote]
Good luck in getting approved for this therapy, Janie.
