Had the sinus surgery yesterday.  No big deal.  I am in minnimal pain.  BUT...Last night around 10 I got crazy chest pains and this time my face and arms and hands went numb.  So off the the ER....They admitted me.  my oxygen levels were low and my chest xray showed "something" at the bottom.  They also did a very extensive heart echo.  The dr. is supposed to be in later this afternoon.

Yikes! Please let us know what they say! Hope everything is OK!Wow! Becky!

I sure hope it is nothing serious. Sorry, you are going thru this.

Much and many hugs to you.

HOPE ALL IS OKAY!!!!  oh no!  hopefully you'll get some quick answersOh...no! I echo everyone else, please let us know how your are. Good for you getting yourself to the ER posthaste. So far, all I know is that the ctcan showed the beginning stages of rheumatoid lung.  Don't know yet about the echo.  My pain drs PA(the one who I really like) has come by twice.  He basically just came to check perscrpitions and add others.
Certainly not how all this was meant to work.  I called my friend at 7 to go and get my dog.  They were booked at the vet but they took him in since this is an emergency.Hopefully you'll get some answers and relief soon! Rebecca, I am so sorry to hear your health has taken this turn.  Hopefully, they will find out exactly what is going on and what is on that x-ray.

Stay strong and many hugs to you and your son.

Well, it seems like all has been said already, but let me add my prayers for you and your doctors.  sending up positive thoughts for you!  May the docs figure out what is wrong AND get you better ASAP.

I'm so sorry to hear this...hope you bounce back real soon!Hi Rebecca, I will put you in my prayers tonight, who knows?  It is probably and hopefully just some crazy transient side effect of your op, all the best from Janie.Rebecca, I hope life has gotten easier for you today and things have smooth out somewhat.  I really wish I could hear you are home and comfy in your own bed!  I hope your are not dealing with too much sinus pain from the surgery on top of whatever else is going on.

I am adding my thoughts for healing and good health to you and your son.  I hum for you every day and will keep doing so.  Feel better soon.

So, they let me go home around 6 last night.

Regarding the sinus surgery-that went great.  Barely any pain, no bruising.    The ENT actually called the hospital room yesterday.  He wanted to make sure I was ok and if I thought anything was related to the surgery.  He was on his way over but I told him that I would be gone.  Nice of him to call though.

So, no real firm diagnosis as to what really happened.  Basically, the rib pain got really bad which made it hard to breath  This, caused my to hyperventalliate.  I have never felt like that before.  Couldn't feel hands, face, feet, anything.  The kept checking the O2/CO2 levels-seems I was a mess.  When the did the CT scan they found the start of what they call rheumatoid lung.  Don't know much about all that.  They sent me home with a prescription for adivan(spelling?) which seems to be basically an antianxity med.  Keeping calm is all they can help me with right now until the ra/rib pain gets under control.

So----not how expected these last 3 days to go.  Oh well, does anything really surprise us anymore???
I am relieved to know that you are home. Rheumatoid lung, at least in my research, is rather a catch-all phrase. It can mean plural effusion, rheumatoid nodules, pulmonary fibrosis, as well as pulmonary hypertension.

I am so sorry you have had another hard to digest portion placed on your already overflowing plate.

Ativan is an anti-anxiety drug, but it also has excellent muscle relaxation effects; it may help keep your chest muscles from contracting when you have excess pain.

My best wishes for a restful day, Shug
Sorry for all of the difficulties. I hyperventalete sometimes. It was from cleaning the bathroom with bleach. Or once I cryed myself to sleep from pain and was all numb when I woke up. Freaked out my ortho. He asked if the growth on my leg hurt. I said I think so it did yesterday. Anyway good to here from you I was very worried about you. Hope the Ativan helps you some.Good luck.  I hope you get some answers.Rebecca, I am glad to know you are finally home and have some answers and some medication to help you.  I know this is not an easy diagnosis to deal with, but wait and see what your RD has to say.  Ask for a referral to a good pulmonolgist to add to your team, if you don't already have one.

I have RA lung and when it gives you trouble, it can do it in a big way.  I also have the chest pain you do, like someone tap-tap-taping on your chest only you can't turn and say, "Will you PLEASE... LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!!"  I have a great pulmonolgist, one I can count on day or night to see me quickly should I have the need.  He says he just has to hear my first name and he pictures me and my chart automatically and that is a good thing!

Most of the time, I don't even know I have RA lung.  I am very careful about exposure to anything respriatory, practicing good hygiene and get a flu shot every year.  It can be a sneeky aspect of the disease to deal with, so regular PD check-ups are a must.  I do have a nebulizer at home with the meds to use when I am ill, I find it brings quicker (and deeper) relief than an inhaler.  I only use these when I am sick, I don't need an inhaler every day.

If I can help, or answer any questions you may have, please don't hesitate.  Thanks for the good wishes.  I googled RA lung and came up with a ton of different explanations.  I am supposed to call dr. on mon regarding the hospital stay.  Of course-which one do I call?  I am thinking the pain dr.  I feel it was the sternum pain that started this whole thing.  I am taking the ativan but it just makes me super tired.  Hopefully my body will adjust.  Thank goodness this happened over the summer.  But, I got to get this sorted out before school starts.  Can't have the teacher falling over in front of the class.I hope you are feeling better this morning and continue to feel better each day until your appointment at Duke.

I send you my very best wishes for a wonderful day, Shug
Continuing good wishes.

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this!  I have been on Ativan before (post-partum), I hope it helps, it helped me!
