Hello,

I was diagnosed in Nov/Dec of 2008 with RA.   But all of my blood  tests thus far has been negative.  I am so confused about all of this.    I am hoping perhaps someone out there has an idea that I have not thought of.

Sounds like you need to be tested for Srojens (sp)  I was dx with that in addition to my RA years ago.  I always have a drink with me no matter where I go.  I also have eye plugs that help keep the moisture in my eyes plus daily eye drops.  My RA Dr calls it overlap syndrome (more than one related disease)  Sorry you are having a flare, hopefully your Dr will give you an injection or some Prednisone to get you through it.  Sorry you are having pain.  Flares are difficult to deal with for sure.  Do you have an appt with your RD soon?  Hang in there!

Oh, and welcome.

i COMPLETELY agree w/ ncpalinda........

sounds like RA w/ SS to me too....

Thanks for the advice... I see pm doctor in the morning for a check up.  I will mention symptoms to her and I think she will refer me to my rhemotologist.   I am due for a check up anyhow.  Thanks again.

Feel better soon. Flares stink. You need some medicine and there are many out there. It does sound like you have Sjorgrens and that is no fun either. Get to a rhuemotolgist and get some help. Not all of the medicines will effect you the same. Take care of yourself and feel better. [QUOTE=tinkster42]...was put on Plaquenil and it did help my symptoms a great deal, however, it caused severe stomach pain.   I stopped taking it about a month ago.  I am full blown flare right now, stiff joints, swollen fingers/hands.   I feel kind of ick all over, like I am getting the flu or something but I am not. I am sorry you experience stomach pain with a DMARD that was obviously providing control for your RA.

I dare to say that most of us understand the side-effects of the medications that control our autoimmune disorders and that we all hope to be able to stop taking them someday.

Are you taking anything else to minimize the symptoms of RA and to protect your joints and organs from the potential damage of uncontrolled RA? If not I urge you to see your rheumatologist and discuss a treatment plan as soon as possible. Be certain to discuss your dry mouth/dry eyes.

I would also urge you to make appointments with your dentist and opthamoligist for evaluation.

Best wishes, Shug
Thanks again for your replies.  I will go see my rheumatologists this week or next, whenver they can get me in.   I do think I need a different DMARD.
I did see the opthamalogist prior to going to on plaquenil.
What confuses me more than anything is one of my doctors (pain management) said that perhaps I dont have RA because my blood work is all negative.  If thats the case terrific but what I dont understand then is how come when I was on Plaquenil I felt better and when I went off I had a major flare.  So, thanks  again for listening,  I appreciate the support so much.  I will keep you posted as to what the rheummy says.

[QUOTE=tinkster42]  Also, I agree with the Sjogren's. Those are the two major symptom's of Sjogren's. [QUOTE=Spelunker] [QUOTE=tinkster42]
