pain with a new twist | Arthritis Information

I've noticed lately that some of the pain I'm experiencing feels different. The only way I can explain it is that it feels like hot knives are being driven into my joints and the spaces around them. It's mainly happening in my knees and wrists and almost feels splintered?? Can you feel splintered? Kind of like after they draw blood and it feels like a part of the needle broke off. Am I making any sense?? Anyhow, I was just wondering if any of you had experienced pain like this. (Hopefully not!!)

Hope you are all having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable day!
Do pain meds help?

I hope you get to doing better soon.

Much and many many hugs to you!
I am so sorry to hear this, Mel. Other than limiting the hours you are supposed to use your wrist brace, did you RD offer and update on your general health, the progress of your disease, or suggestions re: how to manage your escalating levels of pain?

My best wishes, Shug
I haven't heard of pain like that.  I hope you find some relief soon.
Phats

Yikes- no I haven't! I sure hope that sensation goes away for you and doesn't come back! Pain meds don't seem to touch this one. At least the one I'm on doesn't.

The RD really didn't have anything else to tell me. At the time my newest symptom was with my leg muscles (hurts when I try to carry my son and walk; only make 2-3 steps) which may or may not be attributed to the imuran. I have to get bloodwork done next week. Again with the waiting before we move forward.

As for the pain, I was absolutely miserable and called her. She insisted upon pred which completely alters my personality. I expressed my concerns about my being insanely irrational and downright scary on the med, but she said to take it for a few days anyhow.

Uh, no.

It took quite a while for me to get back to being the normal person I usually am after the steroid injection. No way was I going to voluntarily take oral pred. I'm sorry.... If I was alone - no problem. But with 2 small children and a husband?! YIKES!! I'm even mean to the damn CAT!!! It's scary.

So I suffered through the highpoint of the flare and rested as much as possible. (Insert sarcastic laugh here.)

This new pain is ridiculous though. It's the strangest feeling and extremely uncomfortable. It comes and goes. Thank goodness it hasn't been hanging around for longer periods. I don't know what I'd do then. I'm about to look into side effects of imuran and see if anything I've been experiencing is listed.
Sorry the pain medication isn't touching this new pain. Hope you feel better soon!
I've had those sharp jabbing pains.... IDK what actually caused it. the RA or PN? but it was bad stuff.....  and would totally catch me off guard and stop  me in my tracks.

Hope you feel better soon, Mel.
BTW, I hate what prednisone does to my personality too.... I'm short-tempered... inconsiderate.... grumpy... almost mean feeling...... :(
BTW, I hate what prednisone does to my personality too.... I'm short-tempered... inconsiderate.... grumpy... almost mean feeling...... :(
So how are we to tell the difference?

Just kidding!!!
So how are we to tell the difference?
OK, that sounds like something Bob would say and it made me laugh out loud, literally, and then experience a pang of homesickness. I love Dolores Claiborne!!  and all Stephen King.

hey Jas.......
