Does my son have athiritis?? | Arthritis Information

Hi There

I'm wondering if you guys might have some opinions on my post regarding my 12 year old son. 3 months ago now i took my son to the GP because he has been experiencing pain in his legs and swelling to his kness, calves and ankles that balloon up and down periodically. Blood tests found that his liver enzymes (alkaline phospherous) are nearly 400 (should be between 30 and 100), he has also been anemic and normally a very active child, he has been struggling with energy. Some days his legs have been so painful he can't walk.

We took him to the Pediatrician lastweek who found that some tests have also shown that he has inflammation to his joints. She says that it could be tha case that he is going through puberty and it is a growth and development thing (although none of this sounds normal to me), but they are running tests for arthiritis, and tests to check his kidneys, bones, and muscles.

Wondering if any of you people with all your experience have any advice or info ??

ooh do i get to say stuff?? or do u want other ppls opinions and not me...

anyways i have JRA which is bad, i got it in April of this year.

i think he could have it, maybe. from my personal expierence it seems like it.

my knees get swollen, every once in a while

when i had been stuck in the hospital for 6 days in April, the doctors had found something different about my liver back then, maybe it was like ur son. im not sure....

and inflamation, that happens with arthritis, i have it too, and i know most everyone here does too.

anyways however it turns out, i wish u the best, altho i hope he doesnt have arthritis.
its not terrible, with the medicine stuff i have, i barely notice i even have arthritis, usually.

but, its better for the doctors to figure it out sooner than later, so they can get u the medicine that u need and stuff.

anyways, best wishes and i hope he doesnt have it
It very well could be JRA -- or a number of other things. Do make sure you have the best doctor you can get to follow up on your child.
