Just an update to all the oldtimers(and i don't meen old in age)haha!

I have not posted in some time due to my rheumatoid has been completely out of controll for some time.I was on the Enbrel for about 2 months, then kept getting infections, stopping and starting ,well it never kicked back in after 3 months,so the switched me to Humaria for the last 2.5 months, they have just put me on an every day antibiotic to keep infections away,as my joints keep filling with fluid, they keep draining them and in some places gave me cortisteriod shots. This antibiotic CAN BE TAKEN with all my meds, they are hoping to keep me infection free to see if Humaria will kick in..They have changed my blood pressure med, doctor thinks one of my medications might be blocking,so these medications can't do their job. It's been 2.5 weeks since med change, all I can do is hope.Doctor is scared that I am going backwards instead of forwards. There was one scary moment 4 weeks ago that I could not even stand. They had to put me on 40 mg prednisone.I had to use a cane for 2 days of severe limping. They have me down to 20mg prednisone now,Humaria, 17.5 methotrexate, folic acid, and the new antibiotic-minocin.Well thats the update for now.I have been coming back checking in ,but hands have not allowed me to type,BUT HUBBY bought me a a computer program called Dragon naturally speaking 8-It's a headset you put on speak into and it types what you want it to say,it even clinks around the internet, only 100.00 dollars for pain free hands,Hope everyone is doing fine,Sherry

Sherry--

So nice to see you again.  I hope your drug cocktail works for you.  Remember if it doesn't, there are more biologics to try--Remicade, Kineret and the new Orencia.  All with wonderful possibilities.  The description of what you've been going through only makes me count my blessings. I'm thinking about you.

Isn't Dragon fun?  Takes awhile to get it "trained" properly, but after awhile it does pretty well.  I won't tell you how cheap I got it for on eBay--don't want to upset your sweet hubby.

Take care!

It is great to see you Sherry.  I am sorry to hear why you have been away.  I can relate to infection after infection.  I hope the Humira works for you.  I remember how you liked your Enbrel.  I love it too but I am afraid I may be in the same situation as you if my infections keep up but I am trying to think positive.  I am blessed that USUALLY my hands work pretty well, only acouple times did my hands flare bad where I could not use them, it is usually my hip, knees, and feet.  I have to say - hands were way worse.  I felt like I could not DO ANYTHING.  I am so glad you have Dragon.  It must be working well because you would never know you were using "high tech" to post.  Since you have Dragon, we will be hearing much more from you I hope.  Let me know how the Humira works.  For me, I think change is so hard.  When the Enbrel made me feel so much better I really have got attached to it.  I dread changing.  I am glad you have a supportive hubby and you have always been loved here.  Come back often.

Welcome back Sherry,

you may not remember me but I remember your trips you use to post about.  Love to read about them.

I am sorry to hear you are not doing well.  It must have been awful for you, to have to go through all that horrible pain. I will be keeping my fingers crossed and toes too. ( is that possible with RA?), that life gets "back on track for you" and you can once again "hit the road..so to speak".

I looked up Dragon Software and found what you where talking about.  Guess I will have to find my piggy bank, dust off the cob webs and start throwing some money in there...Looks just like what I have been looking for.  Thank You for the heads up.

SaraG...is that how you answer my e-mails?  LOVE IT...

GOOD LUCK with the HUMIRA and the Minocin...Sherry.

Hey Dear Sherry, it has been months! I've thought about your travels often. Still waiting for you to drop in. Be safe.

Mike

Hi Sherry. I am new here and this is my first time replying to a message. I am impressed by your tenacity and positive spirit.Good for you for finding a way to continue your computer use with the dragon.I will pray for you that the medications start to work for you. Hang in there

I'm new here

I'm woobie.....

Sounds like you're going thru it right now. You have a good attitude tho.. and that's nice to see.   I'll be thinking of you.   GET BETTER!

That Dragon deal sounds cool.  I'm going to have to check into this!

Nice to meet you!
woobie

I've used it a few times in our emails--but only when my hands are giving me fits.  When you first get it, you have to read to it--it learns your way of speaking, accent, etc.  The more you talk to it, the more it learns.  And I must admit I've neglected its upbringing lately.

Sherry--

I'm wondering if in your NJ - FL run you go accross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  If so, do you stop at that big truck stop on Northhampton Blvd in Virginia Beach?  If you stop there, I'd love you to let me know, and I'll meet you for a cup of coffee.  Maybe Waddles will come, too?

Thank you all for your support-like my doctor said I'm one tough cookie-because he couldn't get me to stop driving no matter how much pain-

WADDLES-we use I95 the whole way-to bad or that cup of coffee would be great.

Sherry--

That was me who suggested coffee.  You ought to think about taking the shorter and more scenic route.  At the very least, you'd avoid that hell around DC and I95. (I avoid it at all cost.  But come to think of it, it's because of all the big trucks on the road. [heehee])  Come on.  I'll even buy you one of those greasy grilled cheese sandwiches of theirs...yummmm.....
