Well, now I seem to have stumped the doctor. I started taking Prednisone the end of May for PMR. I take 20 mg. a day. A week and a half ago, I started getting hives; itching, rashes and welts. I went to the Dr., and she was stumped, saying that they prescribe prednisone for hives! I've been on Zyrtek for a few days, but when I stop, it comes back again. Has anyone else gotten hives while on prednisone? N Ladybug
Rare side effects - yes you guessed it - Hives, Rash, Temporary redness to Face and Neck.
Good news I could not find 'welts' listed.
Hang on in there - maybe it will pass. But, just maybe, you are allergic to steroids - talk to your GP.
It seems that I also have a urinary tract infection, and my Dr. thinks that the hives & infection may be somehow realted. So am now on Rx for that, Zyrtec and pred. We'll see how it turns out in a few days. THanks Mrs UK!
