havin Jra sux big time'

i was right last night, about my ankle gonna be hurting alot. it did hurt worse when i woke up during the night.

when i woke up, my ankle hurt. my neck was stiff and my right arm felt like it was just gonna fall off any minute.

so i took my pred and mtx, with some cottage cheese. i went back to sleep for 2 1/2 hours

good mtx, what would i do without it?
im still a lil bit stiff in the neck, and myankle hurts a little
but im sure it'll be better soon.
idk why but my wrist feels like its burnin and so does my thumb,(the knuckle part)
well, i'll bet the mtx will make me all better, soon.

i just always feel so blah after takin mtx. like sick with a cold, but obviously i dont have a cold, im sure. altho i feel hot, can mtx cause fevers?

anyways i hate JRA, but atleast the mtx works good.

i take like 6 pills of mtx, so thats 15 mg i think...
is that ALOT?
I was going to ask if it was MTX day. You answered that question for me. I hope it starts working better for you after you have been taking it for a while. Feel better.how long is it supposed to take to work?
ive been taking it since the begining of May

the rhuemy doctor sayd it could take a few months
but it could be less, he didnt give an exact amount of time

thnx milly, i hope i feel better soon too
i hope everything is ok with u and u dont have much pain
Well I am not an expert. I have heard that it could take three months. Even I have heard that when you raise the amount it could take three months to feel all of the benifits. So I guess this gives us something to look forward to. Hopefully you will get the full benifits sooner than that.oh i sure hope soI have Adult Onset Still's Disease (same as systemic onset JRA) but I got it as an adult and after struggling for a good many years -- finally have achieved a remission. I whisper the "r" word because i don't want to tempt fate.

I still have a horrible case of osteoarthritis to deal with -- in every joint except my hips, i think. The biggest thing that has helped my back (which i was informed needed three disks fused) and my two knees that i was told needed replaced (a combo of damage from the Still's and the osteo, i believe) was losing weight. I became a "born again" Weight Watcher and have dropped over 50 pounds since 2/6/09. It has done wonders for my joints. But sadly, no pasta alfredo for me! YUMwow u lost ALOT of weight
thats cool for u

im tryin to lose weight, altho pasta alfredo and mcdonalds food wont be helping with that.
i havent lost a pound yet, which makes me sorta upset sometimes...
[QUOTE=StarPerson121]wow u lost ALOT of weight losing weight is a matter of mind over matter, Starperson. It is not particularly what you eat, but how much. If I must have pasta (without the alfredo - red sauce so much friendlier) I have a very small portion now and load up on salad. I've substituted fruits for sweets (a juggling act) and since i love veggies, i load half my plate with veggies (not potatoes -- if I want potato, maybe a half of a baked one) I was looking at the menu at one of my favorite breakfast places yesterday remembering the foods i used to eat.... and then I ordered two poached eggs, put them on a half piece of toast and had a bunch of sliced tomatoes on the side. Not the hash browns, the sausages, etc that had to be on my plate before. And ya know, once you get used to it, it's not really bad -- same eggs l-- cooked differently and yes, i did have a "dessert" half piece of toast with a tiny bit of jelly. It was very satisfying -- though those hash browns still look good.i guess ur right, i could eat yummy stuff, BUT not get carried away and eat a ton. like a small portion, right? so then i wont get fat.

of course id never be able to eat red sauce, thats tomato/marinara sauce, right?
i have to use alfredo, i counted the carbs on the bottles of sauce. the alfredo has a little less, compared to the red sauce.

and i try to stay low carb, as low as possible. considering i gotta watch my blood sugar still.
personally, think while you need to count watch carbs, the secret to dieting is in total calorie count. It's not the protein, the carbs, the fats, or any of those "fad" diets -- but total calories consumed and energy expended. I highly recommend the Weight Watchers program. Know a lady there that is diabetic (insulin dependent) and has cut her usage of insulin more than half due to proper nutrition and exercise. Exercise isn't all aerobic -- (while that helps) - but any movement whatsoever -- and we with the various arthritis's need to keep moving or out comes the old oil can. (remember the tinman?) Whether a water based class for people for arthritis, walking in front of the tv - playing with the Wii or other exercise program -- movement is exercise -- pure and simple.

yeah, i count ALL the calories i eat everyday

which usually ends up being too much

i try to do exercise sometimes too, i go on a stationary bike thing i have, and do that for a while. AND. when i CANT do that, cuz if my knees hurt or somethin, then i play Wii Fit. atleast its better than nothing...
It is hard to loose wieght on prednisone. When you get off of the prednisone you will notice that all of your hard work is paying off. Plus as you know prednisone makes you hungry. If you are keeping your bloodsugar low you are doing well. If you are not gaining wieght and taking prednisone then you are doing wonderful. When ever you get off of the prednisone you will see a huge difference. Just try to keep your bloodsugar low and do not worry to much about the wieght at the moment. It is just extra hard to loose wieght when you are on prednisone. Do not get discouraged by the impossible. So continue to do the great job you are doing and do not take it as a failure that you are not loosing wieght. Pat yourself on the back. You are still a growing kid and you need to eat enough food to be healthy. Just keep the bloodsugar low and I think you will be fine.ooh thnx again milly, i guess ur right

as long as i keep my blood sugar low, then i'll be ok
the hard part is, my mom doesnt know what to do for clothes
lol, i dont fit into my old jeans and these new ones r gettin small too
ugh, thats the hard part
